Whenever one of you mentions making packed lunches for the kids, I picture an immaculate kitchen, and lunches being made using lots of fresh food from Tupperware tubs.

You all have really handsome DHs/DPs who you are madly in love with, and they all have well-paid jobs.

None of you have dirty homes.

You all go on family picnics every weekend.

I'm sure I'm right. Hmm

Sure, I'm a goddess. Kind of a cross between Buddha, Ganesh the Elephant
god and whichever of the Hindu gods (Lakshmi? Sorry to our Hindu sisters for my ignorance) has multiple hands!

My Domestic Goddess day will be on Monday because instead of doing fun or interesting things with our bank holiday we will be having a Big Clean.

Just wondering though, does that make me a Domestic Goddess... or a Domestic Martyr? I'm very definitely not looking forward to it Confused

i have a cleaner who comes on wednesdays. sometimes, just after she has left, i sit surrounded by all the cleanliness and order and feel like a domestic goddess.

Which I am patently not.

Well me?

I clean the kitchen countless times in a day, because as soon as it's tidy it's time for some meal or dogs meal or bloody food prep, so it IS tidy (depending on what time of day you come) Grin
My ds is only 2 n half so no packed lunches yet, but will make them for him going to grannies!!
I have a VERY handsome DH IMO he has a good job, yes and fair paid but when you consider there is no other wage in our house, we don't have much Grin
House is clean? Emm well mostly yes, but don't look in cupboards Hmm
And family picnics are a no, once a month maybe but every weekend you'll most likely find me and DH and Ds in Morrisons :)

I am though only 27 but a regular size 12 no Gabby from Desperate housewives here [sigh]

I do like to bake weekly tho!!

Brunette, JD & coke drinking Independent reader with a huge mortgage on a tiny house who can't remember her last holiday as she's a very long time lone-parent. As to a domestic goddess - neither word fits!
How did I do?

Domestic goddess? Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha!!

My kitchen is hidden under dishes, pans and rubbish at the mo, though DH has promised he will clean it if I clean the bathroom. I have a floordrobe in my bedroom. Literally. All of my clothes are on the floor. And not tidy either, kinda thrown ... I try to keep on top of the rest of the house so its just about dysentery level (thanks for that Grin ) and hide everything in my bedroom. My bathroom gets bogging and needs scrubbing often as my DH has a very dirty job.

By the way, I am 25, but blonde I'm afraid. And I haven't been thin for a while now Grin
And I may drink wine sometimes, but its normally £2.99 a bottle......

Kitchen has a bomb explosion every night when DH cooks, but can't really complain when you have a gorgeous, dark Italian man cooking your meals. (And yes, his name is exaactly like the one on the telly.)
DH does packed lunches but they're in Betty Boop/Superman tin lunchboxes from ebay - got sick of the smell of those awful padded things.
Floordrobe - check. My mum came round to help defuse the kitchen today, and changed the bed sheets for me (the docs think I have ME, I'm not just a slattern) and just didn't know where to start when she went into the bedroom. She left shortly afterwards, possibly in tears. So, not really a domestic goddess, no.
When I'm not completely incapacitated due to illness or pregnancy though, I have been known to cook porridge for breakfast, read the Guardian online and drink wine, and bake cakes. I'm rather a dab hand at school homework projects, but then I did train for it while I was a TA.
And I used to need reminding about INSET's, but now I have a mac and an iphone, I have that one sorted at least.
But domestic goddess? NOOOOOOO - my DH can claim that more than I can - he has to do everything AND work full time.

goddes - i guess sadly I do try and be, try to look good, try to make house and kids look good. Depends what time of day you catch me really. Many very non goddess moments!

Kitchen immaculate = hmm mostly (if you dont notice its falling to bits)
Fresh food from Tupperware tubs = yep
Handsome DP with whom I am madly in love and who has a well-paid job = handsome, madly in love yes, well paid sadly no.
Dirty home = dont look at the carpet
Family picnics = had one at camelot at the weekend but only because I didnt want to pay £20 for greasy fries.

I have a rule in my house that everyone takes their shoes off when walking on carpets... upheld by everyone but me Blush

Not a domestic goddess... Job keeps me out of house too long for that,

Don't do packed lunches

Have three tupperware boxes that are too nice to use - the rest usually get stacked in the fridge with leftovers suitable for the chicken

DP does ALL the cooking

DP is lovely lovely lovely and I do love him - he's studying for the moment and what would have been a 1 year sabatical has now turned into a three year sabatical and we have less than no money!

I do all the cleaning, but my eyesight isn't what it used to be and unless I've got my glasses on, I don't realise what a hole we're living in... and if that's during the week then the cleaning has to wait until Saturday.

Grin

domestic goddess - NO nor am i any other type of goddess Sad

clean kitchen - NO

clean house - NO (i'm very lazy and go though phases of either having spotless house for a week or 2 then disgusting for weeks at a time.)

DH who i love - YES (but won't comment on the job or handsomeness) my job is very well paid (for what i do) but is boring and repetitive and not rewarding in any way other than financially and even then i'm sure i could do better with a degree or at least some skills!

i do have loads of tupperware tubs/lids none of them ever seem to match each other Confused i dont do packed lunches yet except for myself which is actually quite fresh.

we rarely have picnics due to crap weather.

i am 24yo although will be 25yo next fri.

i'm average height and weight 5'6 size 14

i try to be stylish but sometimes being a mum/pregnant/chubbier than i'd like gets in the way.

My SIL is everything you have all said above [seriously] she is tall slim gorgeous, has handsome italian husband who dotes on her, he doesn't work at present although she earns a decent amt and they both have a pretty decent property portfolio. their house is immaculate on any given day or time, (actually slightly OCD as he needs to have his shirts hanging a set distance from each other etc and maitains this constantly)
i am always aiming for her standards and always fall short.

except that i have wonderful DS and she doesn't have any kids (yet)

I know its my pen name but i am in no way a domestic goddess. A spotless house is never going to happen with my family. I used to bake alot when I belonged to toddler groups etc and we did cake stalls etc but now I only bake for the occasional school fete ( if I baked all the time we would all be twice the size we are now which is already too big.) i panic if we have people to stay over as it means I have to tidy the dumping ground / study( the only place they can stay on a sofa bed). i scream at the kids all the time to tidy there rooms and they quietly ignore me. I don't do tupperware, old takaway plastic tubs take up less space and are just as good in the frezzer.I only do packed lunch for children DH is old enough to fend for himself.I never have any idea what to feed the family. I don't car pool or walk kids to school they are both old enough to take themselves to and from school. The only remotly 'mumsnetter, things I do are the following :I love a few of theseWineand theseBrew
I am on the school volunteer fundraising committee
I do bake as I have already said but DH does alot of cooking himself aswell & not just BBQ stuff
I do sew and have made a few quilts.
Please dont hate me for the last 3 things in this post :(
