Whenever one of you mentions making packed lunches for the kids, I picture an immaculate kitchen, and lunches being made using lots of fresh food from Tupperware tubs.

You all have really handsome DHs/DPs who you are madly in love with, and they all have well-paid jobs.

None of you have dirty homes.

You all go on family picnics every weekend.

I'm sure I'm right. Hmm

I picture an immaculate kitchen no, and lunches being made using lots of fresh food from Tupperware tubs. The only Tupperware-type things I have are from a takeaway which haven't made it out to the dustbin yet.

You all have really handsome DHs/DPs who you are madly in love with, and they all have well-paid jobs. I have a fairly handsome H, who I am in the process of divorcing for being a complete dickhead. He has no job (redundancy) & neither do I (student).

None of you have dirty homes. Ha.

You all go on family picnics every weekend. I only see DS every other weekend, 'family' consists of me & him, & rarely involves picnics.

Feel better? Grin

I am no domestic goddess. We dont do Tupperware we do Wilkos. DD has ham sandwiches for pack up every day. I clean properly on a Sunday. And we eat chicken nuggets- not from Mcdonalds mind-I do have standards !

Happyhippychick · 24/05/2011 19:32

My house is sometimes tidy, but those moments are few and far between! I have a perfect friend whose house is always immaculate, whose 4 dcs are always well turned out and who always looks great herself - I aim for her standards but fall woefully short.

I don't have loads of Tupperware - what I do have are loads of those plastic boxes Chinese takeaway comes in, However I can never find a lid to fit!

I do have a lovely dh who earns money! Not loads but enough to get by....and we are v happy together.

I would guess the majority of people are like me, but if I invited you round my house would be tidy, because I would spend the two hours before you arrive tidying up!!

RockStockandTwoOpenBottles · 24/05/2011 19:37

Kitchen immaculate - Yes in the sense that its clean and everything has a place. I cook an awful lot, which I wouldn't be able to do if it was a grease layered grot hole with overflowing sink and bins (but our rubbish is collected daily, because of the heat)

Fresh food from Tupperware tubs - 'fraid so, I have my mother's plastic pot fetish. No pot to small Grin

Handsome DP with whom I am madly in love and who has a well-paid job - well I did have but it would seem that i fell madly in love with a total cunt arsehole and therefore have left him to actually have a life.

Dirty home - not really, during the day when irksome urch seeks and destroys, but always cleaned and tidied at night otherwise I'll be fidgety fresh for her antics the next day Grin

Family picnics - beach once or twice a week May - October

MooMooFarm · 24/05/2011 19:40

My kitchen looks very clean to the naked eye - just don't look under/behind anything Smile

I do have tupperware, including tupperware for the children's lunches - which do always include fresh fruit but also wotsits & cheesestrings Grin

I do have a lovely handsome DH who I am madly in love with (apart from during PMT week) and who has a good job (but then - ahem - so do I... just saying Smile)

See re Kitchen above re the cleanliness of my home....

And we never go on picnics - unless you count ones in the garden. For some reason a swarm of wasps seem to follow me wherever I go so it's generally not a good idea Confused.

melodyangel · 24/05/2011 19:40

Ha I fell the same way OP. Can I also add I imagine everyone as being 25, thin, tall and extremely stylish!

Al0uiseG · 24/05/2011 19:41

I imagine most Mumsnetters to be intelligent, educated, working in a field they love whilst managing childcare with minimal help, I also imagine they have hobbies which they manage to devote time to.

I on the other hand spend all my time cleaning the house, walking the dog, cooking meals and listening to dh work from home. Hmm Nothing is ever done properly yet I have no time for either job or hobbies. except drinking Tequila, badly

melodyangel · 24/05/2011 19:41

They are also able to type.

Choufleur · 24/05/2011 19:43

Come and see my house and my very crumpled clothes and you will quickly realise I am very far from being a domestic goddess.

RockStockandTwoOpenBottles · 24/05/2011 19:43

Melody I am NOT 25, thin, tall, or extremely stylish. But I can type Grin

Al0uise So we hear Wink

melodyangel · 24/05/2011 19:49

You all also must have wonderfully big bosoms. So much talk of norks.

Al0uiseG · 24/05/2011 19:51

RockStock sounds like you might be back for the next meet up though Wink you can help me practice this time :o

Goodynuff · 24/05/2011 19:56

melodyangel
Smile
as being 25, ~33
thin, ~hahahha, no
tall ~YES! I am tall
extremely stylishc` I can dress well, but often just choose cut offs and a t shirt
able to type~Yes! but not always with the careful spelling of words
have wonderfully big bosoms~sigh....Envy no.

Takeresponsibility · 24/05/2011 20:04

25 - hahaha - DS is 25 so that ship sailed a long time ago
Able to type - not at all, but I can spell.
Stylish - in my own individual way
Immaculate home - Beds and towels changed weekly, floors washed and/or hoovered weekly so pretty good on day 1, faintly scrofulous by day 6.
Family picnics - used to have "hard luck picnics" - we'll take whatever is in the fridge on a picnic - if you don't like it.....
Really handsome DPs/DHs with well paid jobs. Have DH and DP - I earn more than both of them.

I'm young and hot. With bits of apple smeared over my cardie. Pleased to meet you. Grin

MooMooFarm · 24/05/2011 20:10

Ps yes I have big norks - with a matching big arse Grin

melodyangel · 24/05/2011 20:18

I have the big arse!

WinePig · 24/05/2011 20:34

I like saying "Its a bit chaotic but I insist on it being kept clean"

But its a complete lie - its messy and often dirty. I spend my life wondering how other people keep on top of their house work.

And I hate picnics - they always seem to involve lots of wasps.

Goodynuff · 24/05/2011 20:34

I seem to picture Mumsnetters as home owning, spanish vacationing, on line ordering, Guardian reading, wine drinking brunettes, with lovely dogs. Grin

Goodynuff · 24/05/2011 20:35

'm sure they are not all that way, but that's how they appear in my head! Grin

pigletmania · 24/05/2011 21:22

I am not at all Smile, my house is grubby and I sometimes resort to quick foods.

Immaculate kitchen - you won't catch food poisoning in it Grin
Tupperware - yes
Handsome, well-paid DH - yes
Clean house - mostly
Family picnics - sometimes

Al0uiseG - I also think everyone on here has amazingly fulfilling careers and hobbies etc, and wonder where they find the time and energy!!
