I'm amazed at the number of people who have admitted that they don't shower / bathe every day and they insist that they don't smell.

Some of them probably don't. Some people are naturally unsmelly.

bupcakesandcunting · 23/05/2011 16:19

I used to work with a bloke like that, nickelbabe. I was NOT involved in the singing of "B.O, B.O" to the tune of "Mna, mna" by The Muppets when he left the office Blush

AuntieMonica · 23/05/2011 16:20

i think poorly people smell more too, if you're in pain it's less likely you're going to want to jump in the shower everyday before nipping out.

at least that's the excuse i'm giving the bunch of fetid baufers who were on the bus back from the hospital the other day!

DD has a very keen sense of smell Blush and i had to giver her a tissue to cover her nose (and mouth for fear of her saying very loudly about the stink)

surely you know if you don't wash your arse at least every other day it's going to hum?

NettoSuperstar · 23/05/2011 16:20

Nope, I'm afraid I still think strip washing is minging.
Besides, isn't it a major hassle and it would be quicker to get in the shower?

I don't use tampon either, and also think they are minging, as are towels, so thereGrin

mamalovebird · 23/05/2011 16:20

what is a strip wash? Presuming, just a wash at the sink instead of a full blown shower or bath?

TrillianAstra · 23/05/2011 16:21

If you have a shower it's just easier to get in the shower.

TrillianAstra · 23/05/2011 16:21

I bet most of the people who you are smelling on the street are not of the "I have a very good old-fashioned strip-wash" brigade. They probably just don't wash at all very often.

ShirleyKnot · 23/05/2011 16:22

I worked with a woman and I could smell her clopper when I walked into her office.

TitsalinaBumSquash · 23/05/2011 16:22

I can cope with BO, bad breath is not good though, I know someone who has minging breath, its simply because he doesn't brush his teeth.

bupcakesandcunting · 23/05/2011 16:23

A lady who comes into my shop now smells of bum. It's rank. I hate her.

nickelbabe · 23/05/2011 16:23

it's not quicker and less hassle to get into the shower - if i get into the shower, I have to wait for the water to heat up, and I have to stand under the water, then wash, and then dry, which takes ages, especially in the morning when I leave it as late as possible before I get up.

I can't use soap, as I have dry skin - I shower once a week, when I use shower gel or bubble bath, and then have to moisturise loads.

When I strip wash, I only have to fill the sink and use a flannel (after I've washed my bits), and do from top to bottom.
and i'm dry very quickly.

It's a lot quicker and sooo much easier

nickelbabe · 23/05/2011 16:24

exaclty Trillain - they just don't wash.
or they wash and don't wear clean clothes- that's just as bad.

olibeansmummy · 23/05/2011 16:24

I think the presumption that people who smell don't wash is very unfair. I used to have a bo problem. Yes I'd shower every day, use tons of deodorant etc but by the time I got in the car to go somewhere I'd already smell :( it was horrible as I knew people would presume I didn't wash or didn't care but I did. So I kept away from people. Now I have prescription deodorant and life is a million times better and I mean that.

thaigreencurry · 23/05/2011 16:24

I would hate to have a strip wash because it makes me think of people in hospital. I agree that you may as well just jump in the shower if you are going to the faff of getting naked. I disagree that strip washing is minging, you are cleaning all your bits as you would do in the shower. I really couldn't do it though I have to feel the water all over me running down my face and through my hair just don't feel refreshed otherwise.

taylor74 · 23/05/2011 16:25

ok ok so there are peeps that smell.I shower twice a day cause I like to,some probably shower or bathe once a week, thats up to them, yes its not pleasant for others to smell but most of these people don't realise they have a problem. That chap from work did'nt know he had BO. Now he does'nt.

ScousyFogarty · 23/05/2011 16:26

I dont think I ming

It can be tragic. There was a poor couple who used to shop in the supermarkets. It was horrendous. The staff used to shout for sprays when they went.

nickelbabe · 23/05/2011 16:26

(olibean* - at least you did something about it - you recgonised the problem and took steps to solve it.

there are loads of people who just ignore the problem and hope people will stop noticing?
or just don't notice the problem.

Ariesgirl · 23/05/2011 16:26

But you know, say you use really hot clean water and have a really good scrub? As opposed to someone who stands under some lukewarm water for 3 minutes? Grin

I agree that BO smell is vomit inducing not pleasant, it's just that sometimes there are mitigating factors.

AuntieMonica · 23/05/2011 16:26

Shirley

you are the 2nd person to my knowledge to have ever used the word 'clopper'. makes me giggle everytime Grin

nickelbabe · 23/05/2011 16:27

thaigreen - "have to feel the water all over me running down my face and through my hair just don't feel refreshed otherwise."

funny, cos it's the water running all over me that I hate Grin

Suncottage · 23/05/2011 16:28

I had a boss once who had terrible breath and BO that you could 'smell' him in his office even when he was away. He once gave me his housekeys to pop round to pick up his mobile phone which he had forgotten, the house was spotless but yet again every room stank of 'him'.

I was expecting a total pigsty tbh. Hmm

He lived alone unsurprisingly.

taylor74 · 23/05/2011 16:29

I am guessing a clopper is a fanny
Now there used to be a girl at uni in our halls that never washed whilst on her period, she had been told by her mom that you don't wash or wash your hair on your time of the month

TheMonster · 23/05/2011 16:31

I had the misfortune to use a bus the other month. There was a couple on there that that stank of tuna. Gross.

omnishambles · 23/05/2011 16:33

I know I am odd but would much rather someone smelled of bo next to me on the tube than perfume or booze - perfume and strong lush type smells give me a migraine. I cant bear them.

ScousyFogarty · 23/05/2011 16:34

I was tried to popularise "Is he crimping her pastry?" for something that is similar to cooking.
