Husband told me on 15 May 2010 that he was leaving me and our two dds after sixteen years of marriage; he had met another woman; he was moving out to live with her - four hours drive away; oh and also he was chucking in his job; and really that it was the best thing for us all. All of which, he did.
Here we are a year later ... and the two dds and the two of us are about to go out for a meal to celebrate dd's 13th birthday.

I am all dressed up and ready to be polite, amiable, and only have one drink.
But I do think I need the halo.
Not unreasonable, surely??
Unless there is a worthier candidate out there, of course ...

YANBU

Have a great time and don't forget to polish that halo Grin

gallicgirl · 21/05/2011 19:38

well done you :)

Are you wearing stilettos because I sometimes find after a drink I accidentally on purpose tread on people with the nasty pointy spike. Grin

agedknees · 21/05/2011 19:39

Put some arsenic in his drink!

Or a large dose of an emetic.

stoppinchingthedummy · 21/05/2011 19:40

Amazing i have all admiration for adults who can put their own differences aside for the sake of their children. Make sure his food has extra secret chilli's in ;)

beesimo · 21/05/2011 19:40

Your a much better woman than me plainwhite I would of let loose the dogs of war and wanted them to tear him and his dollymot to pieces. When I get my mad up I go blind with rage so big respect to you.

agedknees · 21/05/2011 19:43

Respect to you for putting your dd first. Hope you have a good birthday dinner. Happy birthday to the birthday girl.

usualsuspect · 21/05/2011 19:44

Respect to you..do flirt with the waiters though Grin

Icelollycraving · 21/05/2011 19:45

Well done, have you got the ex lax to pop into his meal when he's busy chatting?

madhousewife · 21/05/2011 19:45

wow- you are such a strong, courageous woman. wear that halo with pride!

Spidermama · 21/05/2011 19:49

The halo's rightfully yours.

Good luck tonight. Be calm and strong.

I hope you wouldn't do the exlax thing as you'd destroy this fantastic opportunity to enjoy the view from the moral highground.

SpeedyGonzalez · 21/05/2011 19:49

What a fabulous woman you must be. I bet you set an amazing example for your DD. Have a brill night.

Spidermama · 21/05/2011 19:54

Aww thanks speedy. I don't bloody feel like it. I've been googling the hire a yurt scheme there but it would cost an extra £600 so really not worth the money.

I wonder whether theres a really big but manageable tent I can aquire which is incredibly easy, ideally pop-up, to put up.

Spidermama · 21/05/2011 19:56

Blush Wrong thread.

I thought your praise was a bit overly generous speedy. Grin

In all my 6+ years mumsnetting I've never done this. I always laugh out loud when others do.

Sorry plainwhite. As you were.

TidyDancer · 21/05/2011 19:59

Well done OP. You're a better woman than I!

ChippingIn · 21/05/2011 19:59

spidermama - just spent 5 minutes trying to make some sense of that! LOL

plaintwhitet - you definitely get the halo tonight :) I'm amazed he's not in a veggie patch somewhere!

FabbyChic · 21/05/2011 19:59

Have a great time and well done for coming so far in such a short space of time.

SpeedyGonzalez · 21/05/2011 20:02

Arf at spidy!

MurphyWasAnOptimist · 21/05/2011 20:04

Well done to you!

Trace100 · 21/05/2011 20:17

Oh god have the halo. Just resist the temptation to throw it like a flaming discuss at his windpipe.

heliumballoons · 21/05/2011 21:05

Take the halo you deserve it Grin

plainwhitet · 21/05/2011 23:01

Here I am on Dignity Street saying thank you to you all, and good night. All went well except he argued with DD1 about who would sit where at the table. Very grown up. Halo back on the coat hook for whoever needs it next .

ChippingIn · 22/05/2011 08:57

I'm glad it went OK. Twat arguing about who was sitting where... LOL maybe he promised the OW he wouldn't, you know sit next to you!! Grin I hope she had a miserable time at home worrying about just how well it was going.

Spidermama · 22/05/2011 09:19
