Can you not open the window wide, put the lights out, and leave the room for a few minutes?

They're nocturnal creatures and bessie/berty bat doesn't get out soon s/he may spend the night swooping around your corridor and be fast asleep suspended from the light fitting by the time your DH puts in an appearance.

Ha ZigZag DH does an enormous or studying in the study.

He even pops out of here to tell me obtuse nonsense.

Happily I have annexed it & am now filling it with booze/fag fumes.

Yes - he was quite sweet when adhereing to the back of the curtains.

I'll have you know that some of my most studious moments have taken place in the Room Where You Put Things That Don't Have Another Place To Go my study, and I've sometimes used the unironed sheets to facilitate my understanding of life as a Roman senator.
