I have had a stand up row with my neighbour...

and I'm GLAD!!

She has been a horrible cow since forever and spread hateful rumours about people in the village. Today, I took my asthma medication (which is strong and steroid based and makes me shake a bit) . She is a lunchtime supervisor and told the other ladies that I "definitely have a drink problem - have you seen her hands??". Ha! They told me. I reported to boss, along with other hateful lies this woman has spread.

She came to my house (she lives just up the road) and said screamed "You reported me for X Y Z". I said "Yes. And I also reported you for what you said about me!"

I feel empowered!

Bloody good for you! I hope that standing up to her will prevent her from trying to discredit you again.

Samjam10 · 20/05/2011 23:18

(I feel empowered but a bit nervy - I am not used to big rows!)

Well done you - it's always empowering when we stand our ground in a non-aggressive manner but it's perfectly acceptable to slam door in face of unwanted caller

I hope she's the kind of poison ivy that will now wilt otherwise there's a chance she'll grow back twice as strong.

Muster your troops and be prepared!

MumblingRagDoll · 20/05/2011 23:51

Oh well done! You have no need to be nervy....she is an old witch for saying things like that!
If she comes around then do not open the door....if she speaks to you in the street do not listen unless it is to recieve an apology.

I had something similar recently with a woman in school and I had to tell her....it has to be done!

Samjam10 · 20/05/2011 23:57

Apparently, I drink vodka from a brown bag (?) at school (??) because my partner had it off with someone else last night (when he was in bed with me, so???)

Salmotrutta · 21/05/2011 00:13

What she has said is slanderous (and/or defamation of character) so she's lucky you didn't seek legal advice! (Unless of course you really do drink vodka out of a paper bag whilst in school Grin)
In fact, if she approaches you again tell her you have sought legal advice about slander. Put her gas at a peep.
Don't think of it as a row - think of it as correcting someone before they get into serious trouble. Although it would serve her right as she sounds very wicked to be spreading awful lies like that Shock

Samjam10 · 21/05/2011 00:20

I just posted this on facebook and two of my oldest friends have accused me of lying. This could never have happened apparently!

Salmotrutta · 21/05/2011 00:21

We believe you Samjam10!! - Smile

MumblingRagDoll · 21/05/2011 00:23

Salmon is right...t's not a row...you just put her in her place. If yu have to do it again then so be it...

izzywhizzyletsgetbusy · 21/05/2011 00:27

If you want to be seen by your employers as the consumate professional in this matter, avoid publishng hearsay your grievances about anyone else on sites such as FB or you could find yourself tarred by the same brush.

And assuming you want this matter to be resolved and for poison ivy to desist wth her false allegations, please resist the temptation to stoke the fire.

Samjam10 · 21/05/2011 00:29

You're right izzy... I deleted FB thread after two minutes, and didn't identify her by name ever.

Good for you Samjam - stay on the moral high ground until you're absolutely certain that the cctv is turned off!

AgentZigzag · 21/05/2011 02:41

On your fb thread you say one of your old school friends moved close by, could she know your freaky neighbour and be getting sucked in by her?

GoFullForce · 21/05/2011 06:56

Speak to the school again, and say she's being abusive at your front door, I suspect hope her contract is terminated.
