to wake my neighbours up next door during a fire alarm?

Just heard the fire alarm in our flat and the communal hall at 3am in the morning and saw the fire brigade outside so rushed out and knocked my neighbours door to make sure they'd heard the alarm. One neighbour was quite nice about it the other quite grumpy that he had been woken up and saying it would probably end up being a false alarm and he didn't even open the door to speak just spoke from inside the door! Luckily it did turn out to be but just wandering if i am being unreasonable for waking them up as if there had been a fire it could have all been a lot worse x

no it could have been a fire who called fire brigade or does it automatically go through to fire station they obviously thought worth checking

YANBU! Ingrates the grumpy ones are!

It automatically goes through to the fire station, it lasted a good 25 minutes. And I was so surprised as most people just stayed indoors or on the balcony's watching

YANBU, your knocking was hardly going to be louder than the actual alarm anyway so he was probably already awake.

Besides what if it hadn't been a false alarm?

Yeah exactly and for me personally if I hear a fire alarm go off I do like to alert people, I have only been here a few months so don't actually know the neighbours but still thought I should alert them. I do feel a bit silly now though as next time I see the man he will probably be off with me for disturbing him

Mandy our building's firealarm went off about 1030 night before last. As usual, my husband and I looked out the window to see if we could see anything, as 99.9% of the time it is a false alarm. Two nights ago there was a fire truck pulling out it's hoses, so we gathered our 2 year old and headed down the stairs.

Out of a building of about 100 flats, there were 20 people outside. No joke. And you could smell the smoke. Oh and one guy did come down...but only to get the pizzas he was having delivered.

It turned out to be no big deal, a burned grill pan, but could have been a major fire.

Most of the building would have died if it had been.

And, like I said, we don't normally evacuate either.

Too many false alarms.

Logically YANBU to knock on doors when there is a possibilty of life being in danger
but given the reaction you've had next time get yourself and family out and let the fire brigade bang on the doors
That way you and yours are safe, and the neighbours wont be grumpy with you
