Ihave just seen a programme on the BBC where they have yet again claimed someone recieved a "free car"

No they fucking didnt!

They have been given a lease hire vehicle under the motability scheme. It is not their car, they DO PAY for it and it is only for a certain period of time.

It pisses me off that people assume that being disabled is a sweet life with loads of freebies.
It isn't. far from it.

you would expect the BBC at least to get it right.

ive just read this thread and the bigotry is disgusting. We are going back to the old ages where the disabled and un married mothers were locked in asylums. Is it jealousy that makes these bigots believe the disabled get a free ride. your car is bigger than my car. How many of these charming samaritans would last a week in the sort of pain and misery most disabled people live through ,every day of their lives. Are the disabled getting something that you think you are entitled to. It all comes down to no empathy, no kindness in your heart and a mind full of jealousy. A car is a large tin can that allows people who cannot walk to get from a to b. I will give you my car. In return you take my failing kidneys, my twisted bowel, my opioid addiction from chronic pain, my internal organs held together with wire meshing, the slow loss of feeling in my right leg, my seizures, the loss of use in my hands, my depression and panic attacks, my autistic child which causes me more pain than anything else. How would my husband get us to numerous hospital appointments and to the hospital when the ambulance people are too busy dealing with you "able bodied" when you have been on a night out and got so drunk you have taken up valuable ambulance time passing out in the streets. You take my car and the small amount of money we have to live on, while struggling to get from day to day just staying alive. Would that make you happy. Then you wont have to worry about someone getting something youre not, or being allowed to park in a place where you are not ,,,like outside the emergency room. You take my car and whilst you are in agony try and take care of the most precious thing in your life, your autistic child. For wholly God, what would it take for you to end your unfounded jealousy and your total lack of heart towards others worse off than you. You go to bed tonight and think about what you have written on these pages. Next week it could be you, a stroke a heart attack or even worse your child gets sick. Lets hope that all good christians out there show you the sympathy that you have been unable to show others. Again , you take my car.

hi i have absolutely no issue with mobility cars as long as they are used properly. i understand that they are not free and can be a life line to many using them.
i do how ever have issues when they are abused. for example ,some one i know has a mobility car but doesn't drive so her daughter is the named driver (fair enough) she takes her mother shopping once a week (fair enough) but the rest of the time the car is hers. she uses it as her own family car and its parked outside her house. she uses the car to commute to work a 45min drive away and the car is in a different town over 40 hours a week while her mother uses a scooter to get around. this in my opinion is wrong. the girl im talking about does have a free car which is provided by the tax payer to aid and assist her ill mother. people like her give the system a bad name . i am angry as we struggle to keep our second hand car on the road while she abuses a car which is for her mother.
