Why do they have to wear speedos in so many places (by policy), they say for hygiene but I don't understand

Men walk around in swimming shorts, sit on grubby places and then jump in the pool.

ObiWan · 16/05/2011 10:33

I think it's probably to stop people wearing boxers or outdoor shorts in their nice clean pool.

pollypopsocks · 16/05/2011 10:34

But wouldn't they sit in grubby places in speedos?

So we can see their bits more easily.

HeavyHeidi · 16/05/2011 10:42

Mostly because swimshorts are often used as regular outdoor shorts and can therefore be quite filthy. You wouldn't walk around the town in your speedos.
Also, shorts have pockets and people always forget all kinds of junk in them.

pinkstinks · 16/05/2011 10:44

I just came back from france and we had to wear swimming hats in the pool too! Not sexy at all... I looked like an egg!

pollypopsocks · 16/05/2011 10:46

Are you for real? You mean the sillicone caps?! Don't they chlorinate the water? I must say I have never seen a pool dirty because of hair or shorts worn places other than the pool.

OP posts:
HeavyHeidi · 16/05/2011 10:48

caps are not common, up to the pool if they require them or not, but most don't.

Polly, I advise you NOT to dive to the deep end or check out a pool when it's emptied for cleaning :D

CravingExcitement · 16/05/2011 10:49

If they can stop people bringing as much dirt into the pool in the first place, they can use less chlorine. Also if people had to shower before getting in the pool, it would be cleaner so therefore less chlorine.

pinkstinks · 16/05/2011 10:52

Yes for real, got whisked away for a romantic weekend by the boyf and ended up having to wear swimming caps. They werent silicone though, just kind of fabricy, but he was wearing swim shorts.

It was a sea water swimming pool...

Butterbur · 16/05/2011 10:56

Strange. Pools are filthy because of peoples' filthy bodies in them. Wearing Speedos won't help.

QuackQuackBoing · 16/05/2011 10:58

It's weird isn't it!

kreecherlivesupstairs · 16/05/2011 10:58

The good old budgie smuggler. It is not a good look. We've seen it in Switzerland, France and Belgium. In the end, DH gave up trying to look remotely 'with it' and got a pair from Decathlon.
The worst ones are the very small pant ones hidden underneath a belly of gargantuan proportions. I often watch DD at the swimming pool and titter to myself. I may need to get a life.

I am actually a big fan of Speedos (on attractive bodies anyway), and lament the fact that most men seem to wear ginormous baggy shorts. To me they advertise "I have got a tiny cock that I am ashamed of anyone seeing".
