why does she not get carers allowance then?

never heard of this set up to be honest

hairylights · 14/05/2011 16:27

YAB a little bit U. If I were you, just leave her to it. What harm is she actually doing you, why do you resent her so much? What proof do you have that she's fiddling benefits?

"who is giving IVF to people that can't afford to support themselves let alone a child?"

Shock
LadyBeagleEyes · 14/05/2011 16:28

How long has she been trying on IVF?
Surely that's wonderful news and a totally different issue to being on benefits?
I wouldn't have thought she'd be entitled to IS unless she had young children, but it does seem a long time to be cheating the system and not getting caught.

GypsyMoth · 14/05/2011 16:29

so how is she fiddling? would she not gain these benefits as a carer if she declared her partner?

they could still make a claim for hb and ct benefits....

darleneoconnor · 14/05/2011 16:30

If she is a carer then her benefits claim may be legitimate.

You seem to think that NHS IVF is means tested- it isn't. Benefits or not she would stil have got it.

If she has been caught once before they are probably keeping a close eye on her tbh.

hairylights · 14/05/2011 16:30

as far as I know there are no 'ivf' police - once you have IVF then

And if it's fraud, it's fraud, the DWP won't care that she had IVF while fiddling benefits, they'll just care that she fiddled.

londonbabe · 14/05/2011 16:30

tillytulip she does gets carers "i forgot about that bit lol" she shares the carers allowance with her friend.

the only reason my sis claims the ca for her mnate is so that she doesnt have to work.

think thats why shes been on is for so long xx

squeakytoy · 14/05/2011 16:30

if she is getting carers allowance, she cant be getting jobseekers allowance, because the two would contradict each other

hairylights · 14/05/2011 16:31

woops posted too soon.

Once you have IVF it's treated as a normal, ordinary pregnancy, AFAIK. There are no 'IVF police' who check up on you afterwards.

And people on benefits are entitled to IVF too.

ClaireDeLoon · 14/05/2011 16:31

So is she claiming that he doesn't live with her to get the benefits? Because I thought one of the IVF criteria was being in a stable long term relationship, which I always took to mean living together?

TheFlyingOnion · 14/05/2011 16:32

YABU

If the fiddling pisses you off you should have dobbed on them years ago. you didn't. You feel guilty. Get over it and be happy for them.

DirtyMartini · 14/05/2011 16:32

oh god knows if you are being u -- far far too complex, sorry. You obviously feel you're right to see it the way you do, so it doesn't seem like you are genuinely asking.

londonbabe · 14/05/2011 16:33

hi darleneoconnor yeah she could get carers even though her oh works but not is and hb and ctb.

i feel that she sould have gone legal before having ivf as if she gets caught shes bang to rights as all the dwp need to do is do a bit of digging and they would see that she had ivf whist clsdiming to the dwop that she is single.

i also do realise that ivf isnt means tested xx

hairylights · 14/05/2011 16:33

Clairedeloon single women can get IVF too.

GypsyMoth · 14/05/2011 16:35

so how does the carers allowance/income support work when she's living with a partner?? if she declared he lived there do you think she'd not get paid as a carer?

londonbabe · 14/05/2011 16:35

clairedetloon yes she cklaims she lives alone.

OP posts:
GypsyMoth · 14/05/2011 16:36

MrsDrOwenHunt · 14/05/2011 16:39

OMG she is your sister, why on earth would you be jealous of ure sister becoming pregnant after years and years of trying. so fucking what if shes fiddling benefits why is that your business?

GypsyMoth · 14/05/2011 16:41

op has stated her sister receives

income support
carers allowance
housing benefit
council tax benefit

Mamaz0n · 14/05/2011 16:41

DarthNiqabi - you are wrong. You can indeed get IS and CA.I know as I did.

they reduce your IS by the amount of CA you get, but yes you DO get both

MrsFlittersnoop · 14/05/2011 16:42

This is weird. First she's on JSA for 15 years, then IS, then no, she's apparently in receipt of a carer's allowance. What has any of this got to do with her entitlement to IVF?

Nice people sometimes can't have kids. Horrible unworthy people get to be parents all the time. You know, rapists, child-abusers, murderers. It's unlikely she'll be sent to prison for benefit fiddling if she's pregnant or has a baby.

ClaireDeLoon · 14/05/2011 16:42

I guess the IVF criteria must vary then as my local trust states: - Stable relationship, couples who have been attempting to conceive for at least 36 months**

londonbabe · 14/05/2011 16:43

ok shes claims income support (you arent allowed to cldim this if you live with a partner)

she claims carers allowance for caring for her mate (this would be ok if she was actually caring for her mate )

she claims full housing benefit based on the fasxt that her only income is is and ca

she claims ctb for the same reasons as above

if dwp new they lived to gether her is/ctb would stop. she did did a benefits calculation based on her partners income.

i hope im making this a little cleaer, im autisic so stuggle with saying what i mean.

i dont have a prob with the ivf being done
