we don't give a toss about cards in this house so wouldn't bother me
for 8 yr old

I'd get your 8 yr old to
make a card

nethunsreject · 14/05/2011 09:47

fine

AlsoAvailableSober · 14/05/2011 09:47

yes, make a card. Much better than a bought one IMO

inchoccyheaven · 14/05/2011 09:48

Yes I am sure the birthday child will be happy they have got a present and not be bothered about a card either.

edam · 14/05/2011 09:49

Make a card. But I've done it the other way round when I've forgotten to buy a present - nip out and get something and deliver it at the end of the party, apologising and pretending I accidentally left it at home on the way to drop off.

monkeybumsmum · 14/05/2011 09:49

We're going to a party tomorrow and not taking a card. Think it's fine. DS had his party in Feb, and got maybe two or three cards. We had 19 kids there.

Slightlyreluctantexpat · 14/05/2011 09:49

Nobody'll notice the lack of a card. Just label the present so they know who it's from.

rogersmellyonthetelly · 14/05/2011 09:51

I have to force my kids to feign interest in the birthday cards. Up to the age of about 100 10 they are only interested in the present.

ggirl · 14/05/2011 09:51

great ds would make no effort at all if I asked him to make a card
would look worse than no card i think

ok now have to find wrapping paper

I'm not sure any child has ever even looked at a card once the present has been handed over!

Just sent him with a present and a smile!
