I live in a small village not hugely populated and we have a issue with one particular "horse rider". We have a small lane that takes us to the local shops etc and whenever we try to pass her if she is there she will not let us pass. She will stand until we give up and make our horses back up for her. This has been going on for a long time and we are considering getting up a petition to get her evicted from her home. Who does she think she is for gods sake, we are just trying to ride our horses in our village and she thinks she can take it over with her black stallion of a horse. AIBU I do not think so but thought I would ask you all :)

YANBU to expect her to move her horse but to get her evicted from her home if this is all shes done is a totally U and i think you would be laughed at.

scurryfunge · 12/05/2011 22:30

Is this a joke thread?

izzywhizzyletsgetbusy · 12/05/2011 22:31

Good grief - has anyone tried to have a word with the woman, or do you still burn witches in your village?

On the basis of what you've said, YABU. Or YMBAT.

GentleOtter · 12/05/2011 22:32

You need one of these

sunshinelifeisgood · 12/05/2011 22:33

OMG, that is terrible I would speak to all the village and get some sort of petition. When you buy into a small village you do expect to live a nice life

Jellykat · 12/05/2011 22:33

John Wayne once said - 'Get off yer horse and drink yer milk'.. didn't he?

Chynah · 12/05/2011 22:38

YABU

Vallhala · 12/05/2011 22:38

First post? And a first for sunshinelifeisgood too? Who just happens to think that you should get up a petition and speak to all your village...

Which village would this be? Royston Vasey?

zikes · 12/05/2011 22:39

Gather your villagers, arm them with pitchforks and drive her from your realm.

QueenLaQueefer · 12/05/2011 22:39

TeeHee, Otter!

Is this an olde-worlde take on the car-speeding-through-village thread?

sunshinelifeisgood · 12/05/2011 22:39

Jellykat: I do not understand what you have said :) For me I think that the OP is within her rights, when you buy a property you expect certain standards do u not think

LordOfTheFlies · 12/05/2011 22:39

Do they still put a red ribbon on a 'kickers' tail, it used to be an old courtesy.Point your horses rump at her horse and rein him back."Oh sorry he's new and I'm working on his road manners. He might lash out"
That might make her shift.
Note: you might need to disguise your horse if she recognises him- give him a chalk blaze and a couple of white socks!

bulldoze the fields each side of the lane and get a bigger road put through - possible dual carriage way. YABU

VivaLeBeaver · 12/05/2011 22:41

So how narrow is this lane that 2 horses can't pass each other? It must be narrower than 2ft, how on earth do cars get up it to get to the shops?

Or is it that your horse doesn't like passing another and you're not a good enough rider to make it do as its told?

SarahStratton · 12/05/2011 22:42
Hmm
sunshinelifeisgood · 12/05/2011 22:43

i agree with the OP and hope she agrees with me. I have paid a considerable sum for my property and do expect to a certain degree of people obliging and being considerate to our needs. She is not BU. For the record I have a very nice horse called SILVER who is road considerate

LadyBeagleEyes · 12/05/2011 22:45

Is it cos the horse is black?

scurryfunge · 12/05/2011 22:45

Not sure what other thread this is referring to but this is one big piss take I hope, sunshinelife.

sunshinelifeisgood · 12/05/2011 22:47

oh thats charming Lady: No it does not matter what colour the horse is, they are just horses, they are not people :( if they were this would be a different subject do you not think

bittersweetvictory · 12/05/2011 22:47

So sunshinelife you agree that this woman should be evicted from her home for this minor offence, what do they do to someone who steals a loaf of bread in your village of the damned cut off their hands and stick them in the stocks, this stinks of snobbery.

springbokscantjump · 12/05/2011 22:48

Lady Grin

ivykaty44 · 12/05/2011 22:48
