HARDEST HIT demo or lobby at Parliament today (wed 11th) supported by
all the relevant charities I am told.

I was suprised it was not mentioned on the early news.

I think it is reasonable to assume disabled people will be HARDEST HIT by welfare reforms. They are right to fight back

Disability is not "very sexy" in news terms so it may not get the publicity
it deserves.

I gather they intend lobbying MPs and parliament. If I lived down South; I would have gone as an observer.

Good luck to them anyway. Anybody making the trip to parliament?

I would like to know what radio stations or TV are publicising it....

Yes Rambling it was in the G but not Torygraph

It was spoken about breifly on BBc this morning.

But the actual peice was about the Social care reforms and was merely mentioned within that context.
Unless you are disabled and are involved in Disability rights forums then i doubt you would have known about it.

I'm not disabled or involved in disability rights forums. But then I'm interested in anti-cuts stuff....

None of the charities for my disabilities are involved, I'm very disappointed in them.

I daresay the march will bring out the usual Daily Mail-esque bile that if people are able to protest they're automatically fit for work though :(

I just hope it gets some decent coverage today, going to watch BBC news at 1 in the hope that it does.

It feels like people just don't care. It's flipping scary.

This is such an important issue. Disabled people may for the most part be invisible but we do exist and life is fecking hard.

Well the BBC news site STILL isn't reporting the fact there is a massive protest outsite Parliament right now.

So angry, no-one seems to know this is happening unless they're disabled/heavily involved in disability campaigns or caring for a disabled person.

Good grief MintyMoo, words fail me. It is often society who is to blame for not employing disabled people. Also, those who simply cannot work live an invisible life which is often full of struggle. As someone said, the cuts may mean someone has a bath once a week rather than three times. This should be a human right.

Angry too. Potentially, a lot of us may become disabled at some point in our lives....

I developed fibro in my last job. I got fired - my colleagues thought it was funny to mock me, disabled people in general and to accuse me of hypochondria. They also excluded me from social events because of my illness. Before I was ill it was all 'Minty's so wonderful, you'll be promoted soon, you're awesome etc'

On my 5th day off sick a phone call 'oh yeah, you might lose your job because of this. Are you sure you're not imagining that you're sick? I'm sure your Dr didn't mean to sign you off, they sign people off for sneezing don't you know'

I am fortunate that I am capable of some work. I am in my 20s though, I may very well need extra help one day.

I told one recruitment agency once that I had dyspraxia and the people interviewing me physically recoiled, like if they lingered too long in my presence I might infect them

Attitudes to disability prevent many people from working, I know so so many people who lost their jobs when they became disabled, or whose employers refused to make adjustments for them.

It makes me sick, I can feel my pain flaring I'm so angry right now.
