AIBU?

to wonder why some mnetters are so rude??

New to mumsnet (and mothering!) and shocked by the contents of some of the threads. Swearing/ bullying etc. But at baby groups people usually seem friendly and aren't swearing and cursing or being overly agressive. So - are the agressive types like that in RL or is it just a front for mnet?? And if it's just a front - why?

Thank you Mardy. I wasn't bf very much and I think that's what started it all.

You're within your rights to post anything you like gooseberry and challenge any behaviour you don't like, just like everyone else.

But I'm not the one feeling bullied and being called 'a liar, a troll, a nutter, a complete nutter, hysterical, paranoid, a muppet, told to piss off, to fuck off etc etc.'

I'm just asking you that if those things are happening on a forum you're not obligated to be on, what draws you back to post again?

I'm here because I like the format/posters, if I felt bullied or that they were being vipers, I'd go somewhere else.

Or are you saying you stay here posting because you don't want the vipers to get the better of you?

Blimey, you only type things your children could read workinggally?

Can I ask why you either self censor or would be upset if your child saw something you regarded as inappropriate ? It seems terribly unrealistic.

If you said I would never say anything vulgar then fine. But you seem to be saying that you would not say it in case your child or dh saw it?

It sounds a bit like arguing that no one should have sex in case their child finds out.

Woah I've never been sworn at or anything like that. Or bullied. But I don't post in AIBU very often. Not very good at giving advice tbh. But I do get really irritated by posters who start threads in here and then throw a hissy if they don't get total agreement. Even worse when they start adding to/changing their OP to wiggle out of questions etc. Then I get really pissed off and sweary

I like swearing and I like that I am allowed to here. I think I'd last 5 minutes on Nethuns.

I imagine Hully's World to be something surreal like the lyrics of Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds.

Hear, hear Pagwatch

We have sex openly in front of our children because we are not ashamed. Sometimes they clap if we are taking inspiration from page 72.

There are plenty more parenting forums around.
Some even have swearing filters for the more sensitive souls.

Personally i came here to avoid them as they make my tits itch.

What I find troubling is that there is a bit of a space between Baggsy's thumb and fingers and I found myself drawn into the picture to see if I could actually spot anything.

the last post I saw from hully was on a perfectly normal thread where she popped her head round the door to say bof had been buried at sea

wish I could do all that

Page 72 requires a level of agility I would not readily associate with a woman of your years experience hully. Well done you. Those glucosamine tablets are doing the trick
