To tell my brother to call the police about this? Nasty trick..

The disgusting little bartenders at his place of work thought it would be a good wheeze to trick him.....we think...he's now unsure what to do....I think he should inform his boss and have the dirty little crap heads sacked...or the police....there's no proof though....the glass has been done away with.

What can he do I am livid on his behalf and am very close to going in there and banging their heads together...he's upset about it but not keen on conforntation...he wonders abuout telling the boss...he has texted one of the bartenders and the lad denied it and asked if he was ok..my bro thinks there was piss in the drink because none of the other guys tried this supposed cocktail and because it was "salty" and yellowish....he drank some....and a they were earting some strong cheese he thought that this was affecting the taste...so he drank some more...and thought it was gross..

Later it came to him that there may have been urine in it...in fact he is convinced due to the reactions of the lads....also should he get tested for anything? can you catch things from this???

Well, we'll have to agree to disagree. I have a banging headache and a party to organise.
I do hope you your Brother sorts it out

TandB · 10/05/2011 11:20

I don't think Kreecher was rude either. I rather wondered from your OP if your brother had SN or was very young.

disgustedperson · 10/05/2011 11:24

Well he's quite a young 21...trusting and a bit naive...I AM protective of him because he's had some illness as a younger lad..... I dont like the thought of those twats doing things like this at a bar! It's bloody unhygenic and potentially dangrerous.

If I were a customer there and I knew this had happened I would not be served there again! Filthy.

OP posts:
purits · 10/05/2011 11:31

I thought what kreecher thought but decided against posting it!

DD and her mates seem to spend forever concocting dirty pints and the like. What's the fuss about?

disgustedperson · 10/05/2011 11:42

Really purits? I don't remember ANYONE doing that sort of thing when i was younger!

OP posts:
disgustedperson · 10/05/2011 11:42

And what is a "dirty pint"....it all sounds bloody disgusting! Not something to be laughed at imo.

OP posts:
deaconblue · 10/05/2011 11:44

Erm, why did he drink it?

Mamaz0n · 10/05/2011 11:46

so because a coctail tasted nasty he thinks they pissed in his drink?

what odd friends your brother has that this is his first conclusion, rather than just, ohi don't kow, that the coctail wasn't nice.

I also feel that you should mind your own and let him deal with this "issue" his own way.

disgustedperson · 10/05/2011 11:50

They're not his friends Mamaz...I never said they were.

I asked him why he drank it....he said the first sip was just weird...and the 2nd made him suspicious.

Why are people so fricking WEIRD on here? Why can't I show concern and anger on behalf of my brother?

God help the relatives of some of you lot!

OP posts:
2BoysTooLoud · 10/05/2011 11:51

I'd be making a fuss purit if 'dirty pint' involves piss or worse...

florencedougal · 10/05/2011 11:54

agree with kreecher, let him sort it out himself, you will just make him a laughing stock

you also seem very accepting of every suggestion put forward as to what it might be, first pee, then speed

stop bloody well mollycoddling him

discobeaver · 10/05/2011 11:54

Why was he drinking at work? Or was it his day off or something?
I think you come across as a bit over protective, since your bro is 21.
A few sips of a gross tasting drink isn't really worth getting livid about. Unless there is more to the story.

disgustedperson · 10/05/2011 11:55

Thank you 2boys!

I feel like 21 year old lads can be stupid and gross...but I am RIGHT to have concerns...would you all be saying that I needed to chill out if it was my little siter who thought she had ingested a suspicious toxin?
No...you'd all freak out I expect.

OP posts:
disgustedperson · 10/05/2011 11:56

florence piss off with telling me to stop "mollycoddling him"

I am not going to go in there and confront them or anything...I am trying to guide him....

disco....the shift ended....they are then allowed to have a drink and socialise for an hour or so.

OP posts:
disgustedperson · 10/05/2011 11:57

Oh and florence NOBODY suggested speed...someone else said there could have been someting else in there and I came up with speed.

OP posts:
discobeaver · 10/05/2011 12:05

Maybe it was actually just salt? Would explain the loo trips. Lads can be silly but I doubt it's anything more than that.
If you really think he's been spiked with speed, get him started on the housework!

boilingpoint · 10/05/2011 12:11

seriously??

More fool him for drinking something that he doesnt know what is in it!

12 maybe i could understand. But 21?

The police would just laugh at him

disgustedperson · 10/05/2011 12:15

No they would not boiling Ive already had a look at prcedures in case of spiking....they would test his urine and possibly his blood.

Dont come on here with stupid and misinformed remarks which could stop someone in need of help actually acsessing it.

OP posts:
disgustedperson · 10/05/2011 12:15

To those people who have been helpful....thanks...he's decided to eave it alone and he feels better now.

OP posts:
boxoftricks · 10/05/2011 12:22

I dont mean to play it down at all, but when I was bar staff, we used to 'spike' each others drinks with tabasco, vinegar, pepper, salt, lemon juice, anything that was available on the bar. maybe it could have been some of the above?

nijinsky · 10/05/2011 12:28

He's going to have to lend to stand up for himself in life though, isn't he? He doesn't know what happened, and there is no evidence, so what would he go to the police with? They really would just laugh at him. And if there was anything drugs related in the drink, it would be gone from his system now. He doesn't even seem to have any real physical symptoms.

It sounds nothing more than typical bantering and messing around at work, when that work is a bar. He needs to learn to either fit in or find a job somewhere else.

boilingpoint · 10/05/2011 12:33

oh get a grip! you said in your post he didnt know what he was drinking! Surely as a bar man he would know the possible implications of drinking a drink which he doesnt know the contents of?! as he isnt grown up enough to consider the risks then maybe he needs a change of career, and also some better company!

ErnesttheBavarian · 10/05/2011 12:41

If he seriously had concerns and the ability to check the cctv without causing too much fuss, then that's what he should do if he wants to check. He might also want to keep a sample of his urine in a sterile container, again, only if he would want to take it further.

I am surprised how mean some of you are being.

If he has serious concerns he has drunk something nasty, and can also produce evidence, like sample or cctv footage. If he were concerned enough to take it further and speak to the police, of course they wouldn't just laugh at him Hmm.

Boilingpoint, if a female friend came to you upset and said she thought her drink had been spiked you would tell her the police would just laugh at her? Hmm Just because OP is asking for advice re her brother his gender shouldn't bring such ridicule.

DP, I would advise you to ask your db what he wants to do -
He has 3 options really

  1. forget about in (in which case you also need to try to) (and look for a new job?)
  1. Complain to boss and look at cctv
  1. go to police (probably need to do 2 1st though)

oh and I repeat, maybe look for another job if he works with such tossers :(
