To move a moped blocking my cars in my private drive to the road where they'll get a ticket?

I have just got home from a day out and some scumbag has parked/abandoned their moped in front of my cars in our private driveway (actually in our carport). Would it be unreasonable of me to move it to the public road where you have to pay to park from tomorrow morning? Or should I just call the council (or whoever deals with these things).

Why would someone move it into my carport? People are odd.

If you need to move it I would providing it can be moved, if you don't need it moved I'd put a note on it.

I'd prob leave a note saying if you leave this here again I'll move it, but not actually move it unless I had to. After all, they know where you live

Personaly I'd order a yard of ready mix concrete to be delvered - ten watch them chip their wayout...... seriously though, it could be stoplen and abandoned.

Council won't deal with it on a private road. Give the index to the Police -it could be stolen. Do you have any teens who may have given permission to a friend of theirs without you knowing?

I would contact police - abandoned in a private drive, I'd expect it to be stolen.

No, no teenagers, and there are plenty of places for it to be parked around here without it blocking my cars in. It seems somewhat deliberate and unnecessary. I think I'll go for a note for now (suitably passive agressive, natch) and contact the council in the morning.

Why not call and report it abandoned? It may have been stolen and could be returned to the rightful owner.

clamp it... go buy a couple of bike chains (thick ones) and chain the wheels etc. your private property and your within your rights. then put a note advising of your fee for removal!

Council won't remove it unless it's not taxed and there's no registered owner. It has to be properly abandoned. Unless my local council has bullshitted me of course!

I think the note is definitely the way to go, and then move it next time. They have had fair warning that way.

Someone maybe hoping that soemone finds there stolen moped - why not report it to the police and see if they can reunite the two you never know you may make someone very happpy

I'd check it wasn't stolen, then I'd move it somewhere really obscure and if anyone comes knocking deny all knowledge. Cheeky buggers.

Call the police and report it stolen. It isn't yours, yet it's on your property. If it has been stolen and the police come looking for it, how will you explain it being on your driveway? Vehicles that are nicked then dumped are normally left in more out-of-the-way places. "It just appeared there, honest" sounds as dodgy as "the dog ate my homework".

I'd call the police and tell them that a moped has been dumped on your property and you think it may have been stolen.

We had a car dumped in our back garden (concrete area,rear access road) Police couldn't help even though there was no tax disc as it was private property.I put a note on asking for it to be shifted but note was torn off.YANBU to move it if you can.Even if it has been stolen and gets a ticket the owners should have reported it.Otherwise how long will it be sat there?
