and get drunk out of my mother's day margarita glass (with dd's baby foot prints on it) ?

I mean on Labor Day you celebrate work by doing sweet fuck all.. so I think it works the same way

The alternative is that you go into responsibiity overdrive to demonstrate your ability to mother - which doesn't bear thinking about.

IMO it would be insulting to the giver to leave their thoughtful gift empty when you can celebrate this momentous day with a full glass of margarita or 6.

Shpare a thought for those UK mumshnetters who'll have to wait till next year to follow shuit; happily I'm not one of them.

Yanbu, tis the tradition in our house for father's and mother's day! Dh takes the kids to his mum's, I stay home alone, everyone's happy!
