I will be taking my exams in Singapore and since I am doing the exam through CIE, I have no coursework to fall back on if I blow my exam>>> I am so worried about the essay as I am not sure I can write between 600 and 900 words... I am dreading receiving a topic that I cant write aboutm especially for the narrative essay>

I feel like backing out of th e exam, to be honest< If I fqil it qs qn qdult student, will I still be able to retake it and get a place at university? Has anyone taken the AS english exam recently and if so, can you please reassure me?

I am taking 4 other A level exams this month, both AS and A2 for business studies, accounting, economics and history< I am not so worried about the others though Grin

If I dont take the exam on Monday, could I apply to a university without the English AS? I really dont think I can do well on the exam> I dont feel prepared for it at all. :(

I think the best thing to do is suck up all your courage and just go for it. The number of exams I've come out of convinced I have failed...when in actual fact I've passed... well, you get the idea!

You've been studying for it, you're studying other demanding subjects, have life experiences etc to draw on for the narrative part - so take a DEEP breath, read the questions at least three times and go for it!

And, if the worst happens I'm sure you'd be able to retake it.

Good luck!! :)

Hang on in there, I have a unready 16 year old taking a year early as we wont have enough money to do them next year, so it's now or never (soon) for him. You are far from alone in being scared but the fear is always worse than the reality.

Do every bit of last min prep you can and don't waste energy on being scared. Son revised the thing he felt he was weakest on, on the way to his last exams; one of his questions was about what he'd just read up on. :-)

If the very worst comes to the very worst there are resits in November for CIE :-)

Good luck :-)
