We run a pretty tight ship financially here, we have to with 5 children! I do price comparisons bi-monthly to make sure we're on the correct tariffs, and we've been on the best in our area for about 12 months now. I checked again last week.
EDF Energy man, knocks on my door, at tea time I might add! To tell me we're paying too much for our electricity, "I see you're on a high tariff for this area, can I interest you in saving...."
Aaaaargh!!! Despite my anger at this, how many little old people is he going to con into switching???
I sent him of with a flea in his ear about doing his own price comparisons before telling me I'm paying too much and could he have my business!

It's flaming ludicrous!!

The irony is that if they weren't paying these numpties to knock on our doors and stand gormlessy in supermarkets hassling us the the prices could be lowered anyway!

Aaarrrggghhhhh!!

Tell him you work for ofgem (gas and electricity regulator) and ask for their name and number. Amazing how quickly they run.

Just checked on uswitch now, if I'd been conned into switching, we'd be paying an extra £218.32 per year!!!!
I'll ring Ofgem I think, his sales tactics were definitely underhand!

I had one the other day, trying to convince me to use a different pre pay system. He actually tried to convince me to let him in to look at my meter. No chance buddy!
For some reason he looked stunned when I said no. It makes me wonder if his tricks normally work given how transparent he was

We had Southern Electric doing the same thing about and hour ago. Soooo annoying. My usual retort to anyone trying to sell me anything to do with the house is to say I'm not the homeowner and that we privately rent. They always hang up / leave.

We've had the phonecalls and the visits as well. Luckily, I am fluent in another language, so use that to pretend I don't speak English well. They never seem to want to talk to me after that!
