Planning to visit friends for a day or 2 near Carmarthen but want to combine it with a holiday.

Any recommendations of where to stay? Kids are 11/10/6 months .

Do you want camp/caravaning, holiday park or private rental or even hotel? I will go and find you some links....

TheCowardlyLion · 04/05/2011 11:27

How about Aberaeron or New Quay? Both very pretty seaside towns - Aberaeron is prettier but New Quay has the better beach/boat trips to see dolphins, etc. New Quay is probably quarter of an hour's drive closer to Carmarthen. Near New Quay you have this touring/camping site which is next to Cei Bach beach - a long sandy beach.

about 45 mins away, lovely place they do 3 or 4 night stays
camping about 30 mins
if you are minted (and can I come too)

Oh there's so many lovely places around there, YADNBU to want to stay for a few days, you'd be mad not to.

I have actually decided YABU, you need to come for more that 2 days (you missed chat by a long way Wink)

I can offer a cup of tea and ice cream at the beach if you come though Smile

HarrietJones · 04/05/2011 11:41

lostinwales - I love your first link. Am looking for a Center Parcs alternative for a family holiday with friends - is Bluestone the sort of thing I want? (am not Center Parcs fan, particularly because of needing a second mortgage to go there, thus looking for alternative to sell to friends Grin)

Clynfyw is a lovely farm with fab cottages about 45 minutes from Carmarthen. (I am rubbish at links but it does have a website). It also makes the gorgoeus beaches around Cardigan easily accessible and is also good for getting to Neport(Pembs) and lots of fab walks. We have been going there for nearly 10 years and love it. Tis very reasonable and Jim the owner is a star. 5 minute drive to a great pub to!!!

hobnobsaremyfavourite · 04/05/2011 11:45

P.S went there last week and had a ball, DC's loved the games room which had a pool/snooker table DS1 and DS2 (13 and 9) vanished for hours Grin

Bluestone is a very chilled out second cousin to Centre Parcs TheCowardkyLion, we have stayed there a lot and hardly ever seen other people. There is a good pool and indoor play area and some outdoor activities but they are committed to showcasing the area too so you are encouraged to go out and about a bit, there are some lovely beaches/towns nearby. Having been to Centre Parks (never again, so many people, we were terrified, country mice that we are! Blush) I much prefer bluestone and the properties are so much nicer. You can get good deals if you can chance it with a late booking too, which is great for us as it's only 40 mins away.

we rent from this company a few times a year: never disapointed us yet

can especially recommend a property called "garth", wrap around garden, sheep to the rear, stunning views, even got its own game room,

If you've not gone back to chat maybe have a look at these

Have stayed at St Brides (ok), Ty Mawr and the Grove (both lovely) though a little pricey. Also spent a very lovely Christmas here in St Davids:
