To think £250k on a wedding dress was a bit over the top

Now I know it was the wedding of the decade but was £250k a bit over the top? surely Kate, sorry Katherine, sorry, Duchess of Cambridge could have got a stunner for 1/10 of the price, at £25k a bargain. Or be like my friend keep taking her Monsoon no. back every 4 weeks until it was reduced in the sale ...

It wasn't

more like £40K

sorry to prick your pomposity bubble

A1980 · 03/05/2011 22:31

Who said it was £250k..... The paper I read said it was about £40k.

Wafflepuss · 03/05/2011 22:32

It's the engagement ring that is valued at 250k, though it's provenance actually increases it's value to around £32 million apparently. The dress was £40k.

worraliberty · 03/05/2011 22:35

You're right OP..she should have gone to Ebay really...

Moosacat · 03/05/2011 22:35

YABU. Do you have ANY idea of the poor quality dress a mere £25k will get you?

My dress cost about £200 and 100 people saw it. So if the cost of the dress has any relation to the number of people who watched around the world, it should have cost millions.

Ninx · 03/05/2011 22:38

I wonder if more than one was made? Just in case something happened to it.

Moosacat · 03/05/2011 22:42

there was an evening number as well I think

Can the stick up arse people wind their necks in? The OP was a funny post, not serious.

She looked bloody gorgeous the cow.

I don't care. It wasn't my money.

GooseberryFool · 03/05/2011 22:50

c0rn51lk · 03/05/2011 22:52

she had too much make up on though

Moosacat · 03/05/2011 22:52

... news of the world online .... you get a lot more photos, so the tiny so in pixies sewn in to it to represent the family she was marrying into wasn't true??

the cost of the fabric alone would've been HUGE I made a wedding dress with quite a slim skirt and no train and no sleeves for a tiny lady which was covered in lace, the fabric alone for that came to a grand.

there was alot of fabric in that dress and I can't imagine she went for the cheapest lace!

expatinscotland · 03/05/2011 23:19

as it didn't come out of my pocket, I don't much care what it cost.
