OK it's not the end of the world.

I am going to a 50th birthday party this evening. I am usually non fussed about what I wear but my friend backed up by my dh says I needto be with the seasons (wtf? I'd never even heard of this phrase until Friday) so now I can't decide.

Seriously, it's stressing me out. Help me MN.

I have a mostly white dress with black pattern on, just washed it so it could be ready, would team with little black cardi and black shoes.

White wide leg linen trousers teamed with I don't fucking know, what colour? What length? What shoes?

I was happier on Friday with my choice of black jeans and a checked shirt!

I seem to either be completely over the top with a dress I would wear to a wedding or at a loss.

Give me colours and basic shapes please!!!

Thank you :)

Wear whatever you like and feel comfortable in. :)

Thank you squeakytoy. I just wondered "am I missing something"? I just don't really care about stuff like this but now I feel I ought to try to care!

I would wear your white linen trousers with any coloured top and flat shoes.

Collision · 01/05/2011 11:53

Checked shirt and black jeans make you sound like you are going to a barn dance!!

bigTillyMint · 01/05/2011 11:54

White dress combo sounds nice, but then I'm not really a fan of white linen trousers!

TheMonster · 01/05/2011 11:58

If you think you will feel over dressed in the white dress, then don't wear it.

I would go for the white trousers and a pretty top.

Post this in Style and Beauty. It doesn't get quite as much traffic as AIBU - but that's where the people who love getting their teeth into this sort of thing hang out.

If you think the party is going to be formal then I would suggest the dress.
If more casual then I would go for jeans but a more dressy top [not a checked shirt].
Personally I wouldn't wear white linen trousers for a party as they might get creased/dirty [well they would if I was wearing them].

White linen trousers (im assuming wide leg, possibly sailor cut?) a simple vest or cami top (any nautical colours, red, navy or golden) with a fitted cardigan in the same colour range. If the weather is nice(ish) wear with nice summer wedges, a clutch bag and statement jewlery!

I wore this top

with my white linen trousers, nave fitted cardi and navy pumps for lunch witht he girls last week (although my trousers are currently maternity!) x

Awww thanks all. I bought a green top to go with the trousers and some flat black sandals.

Just dyeing my hair and off I go.

I will think of you when I have my drinks!
