Just rewatching the wedding and it mentioned that Boris Johnstone gave them a tandem bike. Lovely present. But then i started thinking that surely not all 2000 guests gave presents?

And if so do you think they had a gift list, otherwise thats a helluva lot of towels!

They specifically asked for donations towards a range of charities; I believe that close family could give gifts. It seems that Boris Johnson and a few others chose to ignore their request and make a point by giving a present - which surely they don't want or need?

Boris is a law unto himself.

I'm sure there was a thread on this type of thing a few weeks ago: "they said no presents but I want to give them one anyway". Maybe they were going to this wedding! [cshock]

Some people have sent gifts as well (or instead) - but I don't see that particularly as making a point: it's just going "off list", which people do all the time. It's the generous spirit of giving that matters - not the detail of what.
