To think that anyone who suggests that Pippa Middleton upstaged the bride is a bit simple?

After all, it isn't as if Pippa said "No Kate, I'm not telling you what I'm going to wear - it's a surprise!" and then walked away sniggering....

To the best of my knowledge, the bride chooses the bridesmaid dresses. OK, the bridesmaids often have a say, but the likes of that awful Liz Jones making snide remarks about Pippa "breaking rules by wearing white" just make themselves sound stupid and bitchy.

Her bottom was there? My goodness my bottom would be everywhere if I'd been able to squeeze into her dress.

Silver1 · 01/05/2011 00:01

Pippa Middleton, is a pretty girl who wore a nice dress, she was bound to look great. 2 Billion people were watching, the chances are quite a few of them will think she was knockout, and equally likely there will be some sour people who think she upstaged her sister's wedding, by not donning a bleached sack cloth and putting on 20lb for the big day.

Now Chelsy Davy, she has been known to wear lovely outfits, so why she went for the number she did is anyone's guess.

Hatesponge · 01/05/2011 00:09

I don't think she upstaged Kate in any way - she looked great, but Kate was definitely the main attraction.

Tbh, I've been at a few weddings where the bridesmaids looked so bad I could only assume the bride hated them otherwise she wouldn't have dressed them so badly!

tryingtoleave · 01/05/2011 00:20

It was an ugly dress, which looked out of place, but she carried it off beautifully.

NinkyNonker · 01/05/2011 07:24

She looked lovely, but there is no way that she upstaged the Bride in any way shape or form.

whoneedssleepanyway · 01/05/2011 07:52

I think they both looked gorgeous. I think it just re-inforced what a confident and grounded young woman Kate is to chose something so stunning for her sister, so many brides chose frankly horrific things for the bridesmaids to wear?

All the bridesmaids at Diana and Charles' wedding were in ivory (althogh they were all younger than Pippa, Sarah A-J was the oldest prob about 16).

breathing · 01/05/2011 08:39

I loved the green dress, much nicer

Animation · 01/05/2011 08:45

I don't think she did upstage her, but I can understand why people think she did.

It was a slinky sexy dress.

Romilly70 · 01/05/2011 08:54

They just complemented each other beautifully.
Kate was the star and had already sort of been elevated to this other regal world, but Pippa was the one the media could go nuts over as they have all been foreluck tuggingly respectful about kate. (not one mention of "waity katie". - more likely patient and confident)

btw, i thougth james middleton was gay

BendyBob · 01/05/2011 09:02

My bridesmaids wore white. So did my mum come to that. I bet that's a big no-no as well.

I love that look, it's so much cleaner and effective than introducing lots of colours.

Kate's not the first anyway. Sarah Chatto's bridesmaids did too and they were all grown up bridesmaids and in similar dresses to the bride. I thought her wedding was stunning.

But what's the point of 'hating' things about Kate's or anyone else's wedding?Confused. If a bride is happy she will look radiant on her day. That's all that matters.

differentnameforthis · 01/05/2011 11:46

I think Pippa complimented Kate well. They looked good together.

As op said, isn't like Kate didn't know what she was wearing!

fatlazymummy · 01/05/2011 15:07

Personally I preferred the bridesmaids dress, but that's just personal preference. I don't like gathered skirts. It was still easy to tell who the bride and who the bridesmaid was.
They are both very attractive young women, and as others have said I'm sure the bride would have the final say over the outfits. And it really doesn't matter what colour the dresses were, there is no law about it.

thumbwitch · 01/05/2011 15:17

DH said something about the newshounds on Aussie tv saying that "Pippa was the star of the show" or "stole the show" or some such bollocks.
Of course she did no such thing!
Stupid thing to say.
The bride was very obviously the star of the show IMO.
I quite liked Pippa's dress - didn't even cross my mind that the colour might be an ishoo.

fedupalready · 01/05/2011 15:25

who really cares

exoticfruits · 01/05/2011 15:28

Obviously a lot of people ,fedupalready, judging by this thread and FB pages etc Grin

ZZZenAgain · 01/05/2011 15:28

I thought it was an ugly dress and her shoes were too high, she struggled to walk elegantly. That in combination with the slightly mermaidy-silhouette looked a bit ridiculous to me Nevertheless she looked good because she's a pretty young woman with a slim figure and good hair, skin etc and white suited her colouring.

The dress itself was nothing great IMO

BuntyPenfold · 01/05/2011 15:39

I thought Pippa's dress was lovely and the only fault in her appearance was her orange fake tan, which was a pity.

breathing · 01/05/2011 15:40

I agree zen. Totally.

goodegg · 01/05/2011 15:55

She is so slim Envy and still her arse looked big.

That right there is why no-one over a size 8 can get away with bias cut, white full-length!

Bunbaker · 01/05/2011 16:15

"and still her arse looked big."

No it didn't. She has a proper woman's figure - and a beautiful one at that. We are too used to seeing skinny models with no waist and hips in the media these days to accept it as normal. My waist is 12 inches smaller than my hips and I don't have a big bottom.

forehead · 01/05/2011 16:17

I have said this on another thread, i really don't understand the fuss about PM, she looked fine, but nothing special.
She deffo did not upstage the bride.
I am already fed up with this obsession with PM. Come back Cheryl Cole, all is forgiven.

forehead · 01/05/2011 16:19

How can anyone say her arse looked big fgs? What a stupud comment,

breathing · 01/05/2011 16:20

I thought her arse looked big too, sorry

BendyBob · 01/05/2011 16:23

"and still her arse looked big." Good grief I've heard it all now Hmm

I think in fact her bum looked so good she now has a dedicated following online because of it.

forehead · 01/05/2011 16:25

Some posters have been brainwashed into believing that a nice shapely arse is big ffs. The rest of us mere mortals have no hope then.
