I probably am BU but I want to know whether I'm the only one to feel like this or whether I'm alone.

The watching of the Royal Wedding is grating on me due to all the regional accents and incorrect pronounciation of the English language by the commentators.

Bearing in mind that it is a Royal occassion and there are viewers from all over the world, why is it so wrong to have commentators who speak the Queen's English, with "proper" English accents, i.e. Queen's accents.

Why can't they bring back elocution lessons for the commentators?

the viewers from all over the world have sent their own reporters :)

They can be on anything else - just roll out the old-skool voices for times like today!

Ah that may be true - it was watching US news saying that they were using their UK sister counterpart Sky News for today's wedding that made me think other countries were using the UK presenters.

Quite funny to have a poster wanting the Queens English who can't spell Grin

tryingtoimprove · 29/04/2011 09:13

I like the spoken Queens English - subtitles can be whatever regional variation they want - my dyslexia will mean that I don't read it correctly anyway!!! Grin

Second gripe - why can't mumsnet do spell check in the msg box?!? Wink

It's all the 'Ums' I can't bear.
Why can't they string together coherent sentences?

PrinceHumperdink - fab idea!
The OP wanted a return to the old days, and I would bet anything that Richard Dimbleby never ummed in his life!
