so far we have had wanking, a man exploded in a microwave, gratuitous stabbings with an arseal of weaponry and language my granny never knew existed.

[cshock]

Why would it be a jolly children's film, it's rated a 15 isn't it?

HerRoyalHighnessPrincessCervix · 28/04/2011 16:38

don't know. i'm being a particularly lax parent. DD recorded it and is watching it. it's rather good.

Salmotrutta · 28/04/2011 16:38

But it is funny in a quirky way!
Did you put it on for your DCs without checking the certificate or something?

HerRoyalHighnessPrincessCervix · 28/04/2011 16:39

i have no idea why i thought it was a chldrens film.

Salmotrutta · 28/04/2011 16:39

X-posts!

HerRoyalHighnessPrincessCervix · 28/04/2011 16:39

DD is 13 so not too horrificly bad.

Salmotrutta · 28/04/2011 16:41

How old is your DD?
As old as the girl in the film? Who hopefully didn't really say the "c" word Shock Confused

Salmotrutta · 28/04/2011 16:42

X-post again!! Hahaha

Your DD will survive - with appropriate guidance and counselling I'm sure Grin

Pagwatch · 28/04/2011 16:42

Gawd. I wouldn't let a 13 year old watch it.

But I am very mean. Very.

It is quite good though. The little girl uses 'cunt' quite early on though doesn't she.

Stropzilla · 28/04/2011 16:42

Have seen this, and yes she did say the "c" word. Was rather well deserved I thought. Not a fan of Nicholas Cage and wouldn't watch it again but was entertaining. Not one for the kiddies tho!

HerRoyalHighnessPrincessCervix · 28/04/2011 16:43

think it was the wanking that made me cringe most. the gratuitous violence is very cartoonish.

Mrsfluff · 28/04/2011 16:44

My 10 year old DD wanted to watch it & my DH was going to let her, which made me a bit Hmm as he & I had already seen it, so knew what it contained!

Salmotrutta · 28/04/2011 16:44

But they would have dubbed the "c" word in surely? Not actually got a minor to say it?

HerRoyalHighnessPrincessCervix · 28/04/2011 16:46

nope. she says it. and fuck. alot.

JamieAgain · 28/04/2011 16:47

It's a great film, but I wouldn't let a child under 15 watch it. Too viloent, too much swearing

Wotsisname is dreaaamy though

JamieAgain · 28/04/2011 16:48

BTW Hello pag

I've got a job !!!!

Stropzilla · 28/04/2011 16:48

Apparantly not, Salmotrutta. She says she did in an interview. I would link it, but tis DM.

Pagwatch · 28/04/2011 16:49

No, she says it. She has been interviewed and talks about her mother agreeing to the language. She was nearly 13 I think

Pagwatch · 28/04/2011 16:50

Jamie !
Hooray. It's you
And hooray, you got a job.

Well done old thing. Is it going to mess with the mning?

HerRoyalHighnessPrincessCervix · 28/04/2011 16:50

but it was situation appropriate

OP posts:
JamieAgain · 28/04/2011 16:51

Oh God Yes. But something needed to ......

Evenings I'll be here though

Salmotrutta · 28/04/2011 16:52

Actually that shocks me that she really said it!! Blimey, I just assumed dubbed! Shock

JamieAgain · 28/04/2011 16:54

I was a bit shocked to. It's very funny and all that but it's not even really necessary. I wouldn't let my 13 year old do that (if I had one). Great film, as I said, but could have been just as gerat w/o the ultra-violence

JamieAgain · 28/04/2011 16:55

too

I've seen interviews with the actress. She's a cool sorted cookie from the looks of it. But still

Glitterandglue · 28/04/2011 16:55

Near the end there is a scene with incredibly gratuitous violence which I really wouldn't think appropriate for a 13 year old to watch, and I'm incredibly liberal when it comes to appropriateness for children when there is discussion involved rather than just letting them get on with it. I'm also really not squeamish at all with violence and I was still uncomfortable. You might want to imdb that before it gets there. Oh, never mind, I wanted to check it again to make sure I wasn't thinking of something else, so www.imdb.com/title/tt1250777/parentalguide - that'll do it.
