Not to fumble about with my dishwasher's plumbing

Being in no way qualified to do so!

Extended warranty with Comet. Dishwasher has packed in making gurgling noises and flashing a lot of lights.
ring comet who say they need to go through the diagnosic tool thing. Ask me what I've done myself to find out what is wrong. I say, I've checked filters and that hoses aren't kinked etc but no joy. they say have you checked the hose by unscrewing it?
Well I haven't and don't really want to mess with it
They say until you do we won't send an engineer anyway your policy only covers the appliance not the hoses!!
Ho hum... policy now cancelled just need to apply for a refund of my crock of you know what policy. complete waste.

You should have unscrewed the hoses, and not cancelled your policy until you had it fixed. A touch of cutting off your nose to spite your face, I think.

You don't need to be qualified ! The inlet is just screwed on to a tap (which you would switch to closed first and have bowl underneath) and the outlet normally slots into a u-shaped waste pipe. Or you could have said of course you had and let the engineer "double check". Doubt you'll get a refund tbh
