I feel all nostalgic thinking about Texan bars and parma violets, we also ate candied cigarettes complete with red tips and after a few pretend puffs they were munched down with much enjoyment. I was born in the late 60's Anyone else have any candy nostalgia?

Now you mention crisps - does anybody remember Smiths Crisps?, they came with a twist of blue paper full of salt in the bottom. (And when I was young they only came in plain - or so my mum insisted. Grin)

Walkers have bought out Smith's and the Salt 'n' Shake brand.

Do you remember Golden Wonder and Smith's had salt and vinegar in blue and cheese and onion in green. Walkers crisps packet colours still seem wrong.

Fish N Chips crisps - well savoury snacks really, they were crunchy hollow crispy fish n chip shaped, reallllllly salt and vinegary!

Also Nutty bars, LOVED those.

Sherbert pips, bet you can still get those.

And Golden Nuggets, little cream drawstring bags with a camel on them Confused and tiny little chewy pieces of (toffee?) inside..

I remember pacers from when I was very young. I still wonder why they were discontinued.
What were the sweets with a tattoo inside the wrapper? My dsis and I thought we were really cool with those on!

There is a retro sweet shop near me, does mail order too I think, called Bah Humbugs (my dc all call it Hah Bumbugs - they get all excited about flying saucers)

There are some DCs today who won't be able to reminisce with their peers in years to come because sweets were banned! (or they were only allowed high class chocolate)

I remember sherbet fountains, gobstoppers and the highland toffee. There was a Fry's chocolate bar with different fruit flavours in each piece-can't remember the name.

Actually I was one the kids never allowed sweets, although I remember scoffing all the sweets mentioned here all the time.

I am living proof that the banning children from eating sweets normally has the opposite effect!
I would beg, steal and borrow and kept myself in a flow of the banned substances and ate in secret whenever I could Blush.
