People have been arrested over sectarian messages on message boards in Glasgow which the police are taking very seriously over the recent parcel bombs.

If you're a numpty who choose to post sectarian rubbish then it's very likely the police will track you down through ISPs etc

I think you're wrong about 'us' having to tread carefully. I know I have nothing to fear as I don't post hate speech or try to incite violence, and those that do should face some kind of justice.

p.s. i work in a (loosely) news related organisation (not mainstream media tho - bit more specialised sector - but i do actively keep "up to date" with what's happening in the world) and my sister lives in glasgow, and we were up there last month, so i'm not entirely separated from this story re: the religious conflicts going on there with football and I still had no idea what gabby was on about
