To think my neighbours should open their windows in this heat?

There are five of them in there - Mum, Dad and three teenage kids, a cat and loads of pet mice.
It's been 24 degrees here today, they're all at home (was chatting to the Dad earlier)
AIBU to think that they should really open a window or two?
(Whether IABU or not, I know I'm bloody nosey Blush)

i preferre, windows and curtains closed and fans on. far cooler for dcs.

Lambskin · 20/04/2011 21:39

People across the road from us are like that shiney. About a year ago a hand emerged to take a parcel from the postie and then a few months ago a young police officer went in (but never came out Hmm) but apart from that a big blank curtainy wall.

Dinosaurhunter · 20/04/2011 21:39

So funny I often wonder about this !
I open all our bedroom windows everymorning even on cold days, you have to air bedrooms -yuck

Strumpypumpy · 20/04/2011 21:40

It's seriously not that hot people. Get a grip. It's the UK in April. Their house is probably cool enough inside.

GrownUpNow · 20/04/2011 21:44

Hayfever. Shouldn't have them open at night, early morning or evening. My DD suffers and I am just learning how bad she has it and how limiting it's going to be for her, poor soul. We were out today and her eyes are itchy, her nose is streaming, she'd wheezing and coughing and sneezing.

I didn't open any windows today as our house is always on the cool side and I feel the cold easily. It was lovely and warm in the garden, but cool in the house so no need to open the windows (other than first thing for an airing! Smile ).

Grabaspoon · 20/04/2011 21:50

My friend keeps her lounge curtains shut as she is fed up of people looking directly in to the lounge as they walk by

reelingintheyears · 20/04/2011 21:50

Why,why, why do people care what other people do?

I personally sleep with bedroom windows open all year round.
Other people don't.

sparklingchampagne · 20/04/2011 21:52

Hmm, at least I see mine every now and then.
But who are all these people who don't open curtains and windows? Ever?

Children? Sheets hanging at the window? Is it a nest of vampires? Ooh this sounds good!

firstsupermum · 20/04/2011 21:56

Why you have to know and get involved in others life? this has nothing to do with you at all, if they open or close their windows or curtains, i am sure if your are talking to them you will be able to know why, if not, why your asking about them, i dont even now who open or close their windows or curtains.

sparklingchampagne · 20/04/2011 21:58

It's beginning to make me think of that film with Nicole Kidman where they're all ghosts, can't remember the name of it. . .

Do they keep their curtains permanently closed to stop their nosy neighbours gawping into their house by any chance?

PaperView · 20/04/2011 22:00

How do you know they never open them? Are you sat in your window 24/7? Maybe they work nights? Maybe they don't like bright lights? Maybe they are sick of their neighbour peering in to see what they are doing? Maybe it's none of you business?

mouseanon · 20/04/2011 22:02

If you keep windows and curtains closed when it's warm and sunny the house stays much cooler than having them open.

How do you even know? I have no idea which of my neighbours has open curtains or windows!

firstsupermum · 20/04/2011 22:03

thats way they got their own house and you got your own, for to do what they want, glad we have the windows, doors and curtains, people like you will even get involved on everything if we dont have them, realy bad.

sparklingchampagne · 20/04/2011 22:04

Of course it's none of my business :) I'm wondering out loud.
I have never thought of going to see if they open their windows and curtains and night. Perhaps I should just nip out :)

firstsupermum · 20/04/2011 22:07

Sunshineonacloudyday · 20/04/2011 22:13

The one thing I hate about summer is flies because have a picture in your mind imagine a fly landing on a pooh and then flying into the kitchen on your food. You'r neibours has cats and mice the flies will love them, to be honest with you I don't blame them I would do exactly the same thing.

2littlegreenmonkeys · 20/04/2011 22:14

I have to admit to thinking the same about some of my neighbours Blush but then again I open all my windows whatever the weather, I am really rather anal about it Blush Blush. It drives DH mad but I really like fresh air. Although they all get put on latch in the evenings and when we are out.

maristella · 20/04/2011 22:15

if they have hayfever like mine then they will have their windows shut! i sleep with windows closed all summer long :( it's either that or i actually scratch my eyes in my sleep Confused

QOD · 20/04/2011 22:16

We have the windows at the front shut - but the double doors out the back into the garden open.......... we often don't open curtains either!
