They are having a fete, stalls to buy stuff, fine - no problem with that. But I'm not happy they have to come to school dressed as wedding guests. So I'm going to have to buy her an outfit that she likely will not wear again!

It's all just a little OTT imo an the sooner this wedding is over the better imo. Maybe I'm out of touch?

Do you really have to buy an outfit? Doesn't she have anything she could wear, a party dress or something? Or get a cheapy tiara from Claires accessories?

Happymm · 20/04/2011 17:33

It's just a bit of fun-and sounds like the PTA making money for the kids benefit to me. Hasn't she got a dress at all. No need to buy anything surelyConfused

Not really as the last formal thing she had to go to was a long time ago. She does have dresses but not many. She has nice clothes but nothing that looks like something you'd wear to a wedding iyswim....Claires is a good idea though - thanks.

Is every school doing this? dd1's school is not.

Just a skirt and top and a bit of jewelry and hair stuff
don't buy something specific

Zippylovesgeorge · 20/04/2011 17:35

Try a charity shop??

We've sold loads of party/princess dresses today for exactly the same sort of thing - plus shirts & ties for the boys :)

compo · 20/04/2011 17:35

You're being too particular
she can wear whatever
don't buy something!

Ds1's school is doing a wedding thing the day before and he has to go dressed as a wedding guest, I have a shirt and tie he can wear and he will wear them with a pair of jeans as he has no smart trousers that fit as he has had a huge growth spurt! Was thinking of getting him a union jack hat and bits too, for fun!

southofthethames · 20/04/2011 17:39

Isn't just a dress ok? Tell them she is going as Princess Isabella of Denmark :-) (who is prob wearing something normal, being half Australian, lol) Something she could wear to another child's birthday party or for her own party? I wouldn't do any more than that - not like it is a job interview.........

Thanks - you've given me some good ideas! I didn't think of looking in a charity shop.
