First time Ive been in years, holiday treat for the boys - two happy meals and a large diet coke for me. I was really looking forward to that drink. Got home and it was a bloody coke...down the drain.

Diet coke is horrible...its gotta be full fat. ..stick a vodka in it ,don't waste it

breathing · 20/04/2011 14:42

I cant drink regular. V annoyed.

Silverstar2 · 20/04/2011 14:46

Yes very annoying. I am diabetic so wouldn't have been able to drink it, so it would also have gone down the sink.

Hope you pinched one of the boys chips to make up for it!

Are you totally sure it wasn't diet? I only asked because I flipped my lid asked the member of staff to change my coke to the diet coke I had asked for in McDonalds once. She assured me 'twas diet. I said it wasn't. She decanted a bit of diet into a cup for me and asked me to taste it. It tasted just like normal Blush Something to do with the syrups or something...

ChippingInLovesEasterEggs · 20/04/2011 14:54

:( Crap isn't it.

Why everyspring? Drive though is better than eating in McD's ... especially in the school holidays.

breathing · 20/04/2011 14:54

There as a bit on the lid that should be pressed that wasnt. There seem to be two bobble things - coke and light - coke is pressed down.

I think it will be another few years before we go again. We arent big mcdonalds users. Just never been a thing we do.

I really want a McDonalds now. If I go I'll get you a diet coke.

breathing · 20/04/2011 14:57

DS is driving me bonkers to go to McDonalds. I am resisting but secretly know I am going to give in soon as I am craving their over-salted chips.

rainbowinthesky · 20/04/2011 14:58

I was tempted to say what a non thread this was however it would really irritate me too.

nickelbaalamb · 20/04/2011 14:59

hmm, not sure about that - at Burger King, they only press the bobble down if it's diet.

exhausted2011 · 20/04/2011 15:03

yadnbu

vj32 · 20/04/2011 15:06

I don't drink draft diet coke because its not the same - often tastes bad because the mix is wrong or the pipes aren't clean. The proper stuff only comes in cans and bottles!

BertieBotts · 20/04/2011 15:19

Did you taste it? They never press the things down at ours. Maybe someone was new and forgot?

manticlimactic · 20/04/2011 15:23

I hate it when they give you diet and not normal coke. What are they insinuating? Shock

They never press the things down here either.

bubblecoral · 20/04/2011 15:28

YANBU. What's worse is when they do it and you notice in time to get them to change it, then they look at you for being completely unreasonable for not just accepting it. This has happened to me in pubs a few times. They especially don't like it when they have just wasted a shot of vodka.

alwaysaskingquestions · 20/04/2011 15:31

I went through KFC drive through one Friday night after a very long day at work.
I paid for my boneless bucket.
I drove home, I got out of car, went in the house.
Kids asked what was for dinner?
I got back into the car drove back to KFC to collect the boneless bucket.
For some reason I got the feeling the staff were laughing at me Blush

Insomnia11 · 20/04/2011 15:33

I prefer diet but wouldn't bother if I got full fat, unless I were diabetic.

But I always feel a daft bugger ordering a big fat burger and a diet coke but I just prefer the taste - also not to have another 300 calories wasted on a drink.

MilkNoSugarPlease · 20/04/2011 15:49

Have you tried it?

They tend to leave both bubbles up for coke and whatever one down for diet

breathing · 20/04/2011 15:52

All is well. Ive just returned from the shop and have bought a small bottle of diet coke Grin

I once went to the drive-through after a particularly gruelling evening shift at work (week before christmas, retail, busybusybusy, on my feet for eight hours). I needed a big greasy meal. I had earnt a big greasy meal.

Ordered big mac meal for me, another meal for DH, a box of nuggets and a cheeseburger chaser. Drove 20 minutes home, salivating the entire journey.

THEY FORGOT MY BIG MAC. AND THE CHEESEBURGER.

I spent a good ten minutes searching the car in case it had fallen out of the bag but nope, it only contained my DH's meal and a solitary portion of fries. I was stomach-clenchingly hungry and had to make do with the fries, some nuggets and a grudgingly offered bit of DH's burger.

This trumps all pathetic diet/full fat coke related shenanigans. I could have cried. Blush

nomoreheels · 20/04/2011 16:52

:) at "cheeseburger chaser"... I know what you mean!

I have a full fat coke once in a while... it's delicious. Annoying if you couldn't have it for some sort of diet reason though.
