I spent all afternoon yesterday slow cooking a beef caserole so it the meat was tender and it tasted delicious (well I thought so anyway!). Anyway I served it up and the first thing dh does was get the curry powder out the cupboard and sprinkle it all over the caserole. Cue Shock looks and wtf!!! Apparently it enhances the flavour!!!
Anyone else have any flavour enhancing tips!!!!!!

He sprinkled it all over his portion or all over the entire thing?

I think someone wants to do all the cooking from now on! Grin (that's what I'd be telling him, that's for sure!)

glastocat · 18/04/2011 16:13

I'd be bloody livid! If he wants to have curry, he can make one himself!

roundandroundincircles · 18/04/2011 16:14

All over his portion, he'd have had more than a dirty look if he'd sprinkled it on mine!!
If he was in charge of the cooking, the local takeaway owners would be able to afford to retire early!!!!Grin

Would you have been so offended if it had just been pepper?

moondog · 18/04/2011 16:43

Curry powder isn't meant for sprinkling, it's meant for cooking with as a base.

My DH often "livens things up" by stirring in half a jar a spoonful of vindaloo paste.

Many times I've felt the urge to shove his vindaloo up his arse. If he's dishing tea up after I've spent hours nurturing a slow cooked masterpiece and I hear the kitchen cupboard door open I screech "don't you fucking dare..."
He doesn't even taste it first.

I'm a bloody brilliant cook too.

SkinittingFluffyBunnyBonnets · 21/04/2011 00:47

Ach who cares...his taste buds must be basic if he needs spice on beef casserole! My DH puts chilli sauce on everything! I don't care.I take no pride in my cooking.

ZacharyQuack · 21/04/2011 00:48

I've be livid. The only appropriate response to a meal that someone has spent all day making is "mmmmm this is delicious"

If he feels that casserole needs curry powder, then he can make the next one.

chipmonkey · 21/04/2011 23:01

Almighty, I'm pretty sure Vindaloo up the arse would be excruciating!Grin

well i usually add chili flakes to my food because i like it hotter than everyone else. even when i cook i always add more to mine because im aware other people like it milder, that way cater to everyones tastes, they have mild i have hot, why should i have to have it mild any more than they should have it hot. why cant he put curry powder on his food if thats what he wants. would you mind if it was salt, pepper or sauce? its not like hes putting it on all the food or critising your food, hes just adding the powder to his taste. if he cooked everyday and added curry powder to the whole thing youl be moaning everything tastes of curry powder, this way you are both having it to your indivudal tastes.

HipHopOpotomus · 22/04/2011 00:14

YANBU - dp added fucking bisto to a gorgeous spaghetti bol I made. It still smarts. At least your man just adulterated his portion. DP added it to the whole thing!!!!!!!

MaisyMooCow · 22/04/2011 00:16

Just as annoying as when someone adds salt to a meal when they haven't even tasted it. That really narks me!

OP, do you think he's been subliminally brainwashed by Masterchef?
