Are you a person of the North?
Because it's one of those linguistic divide issues.

YABU - just be pissed off with the entire Northern working class, why don't you? Grrrrr.

We have tea. Sometimes we have dinner too and very occasionally we have supper. There is different tableware for each meal and we each have a proper napkin. Dinner requires at least 5 courses, Tea is usually two whilst supper is a one plate meal.

Who really gives a flying fuck? Not me Grin

I thought 'Tea' is a five o'clock affair and 'dinner' is a proper meal taken later in the evening (7-8ish)... Have been inviting people out for dinner as far back as I remember. Please educate an illiterate foreigner. Wink

Tea is when you have your cucumber sandwiches and cupcakes. Dinner is what you eat in the evenings.

Entree sometimes means the main course though.

Report

Goblinchild · 17/04/2011 17:08

Tea is at teatime (4/5ish)
Dinner is at dinnertime (7 -9 ish)

Report

SecretNutellaFix · 17/04/2011 17:09

Depends what time it's being eaten surely?
Afternoon Tea is served between 3 and 4:30, High Tea (usually shortened to Tea) is usually served before 6 and dinner is after this time, with supper being a light snack after 8.30.
