To think my neighbours shouldn't slam their bloody front door!!!

Every single time they leave their house, they SLAM the door so hard, during the day I don't really mind. But first thing in the morning when DS is still sleeping (8 months) and I am I think is a bit unreasonable! They too have Dc, 3 yrs and 2 months so you'd think they'd try and be a bit quieter!

I've knocked to ask them if they could try and close it more quietly but their never in! They sometimes close it "normally" so I know its just them being clumsy!

Just need to vent really, maybe I should have some chocolate!

Maybe it's the 3 year old?

Mine are still crap at closing the door and they are 12 and 9.

Annoying though, especially on the weekend.

IMissSleep · 17/04/2011 09:15

I thought that but he's just left one his own and SLAM! Woke DS from his nap, managed to re settle him thank god!

Maybe I'll politely mention it next time we bump into each other, maybe ask if their door is a bit stiff?!!

YANBU. It's thoughtless, presumably they know you have a baby.

However I would probably suffer in slience to avoid a "scene"

purepurple · 17/04/2011 09:56

YABU It's just something you will have to put up with. I am sure there are things that you do that annoy your neighbours
If you don't want neighbours, then buy a detached house.

IMissSleep · 17/04/2011 10:08

I don't want a scene either, and OH just told me their DS was up crying at 3am so maybe they're just a little stressed.

purepurple yes I'm sure there are things I do that annoy them, and I'd much prefer they told me then get annoyed about it! When did I mention not wanting neighbours .... bit of a weird thing to say Hmm

Totally understand how you feel, but, there's nothing really you can do about it. I know from living in a Housing Executive (NI equivalent to council) estate that some walls are pretty thin and even the slightest noise seems like it's going off beside you. I've been in some houses where I can hear, word for word, a full phone conversation next door and closing a door quietly sounds like a massive slam.

DooinMeCleanin · 17/04/2011 11:33

My door slams itself. Or it sounds like it does, everytime you close it, no matter how careful you are. Or maybe that is just because we have wood floors and painted walls so the sound echos?

AuntiePickleBottom · 17/04/2011 11:36

perhaps they got a problem with the front door, which means they have to slam it to close it.

i would hope if any of my neighbours had a problem with me, they would tell me so i could correct it

xstitch · 17/04/2011 11:36

I don't think you are being unreasonable. Some noise is unavoidable, slamming the door is avoidable. One of my neighbours (3 doors down) wakes me up at 6 am every weekday morning. His lift arrives sits outside revving the engine while going toot toot tooot toot toooooooooooooot. He then slams his flat door and then the close door Angry
