To want cars to be parked on the road and not on the pavement

why can't they just stay on the road rather than park half on the pavement and half on the road?

Is there a good reason to drive up onto the pavement when pedestrians are walking along minding their own business, just cause they want to park there - why not leave the car on the road?

because if they do they will be blocking the road and they think they can't do that but they don't give a flying fuck about pedestrians and the trouble they cause, for example, wheelchair users, people with pushchairs, etc, doesn't cross their tiny minds?

Depends on how wide the road is. If you don't mount the pavement round here you obstruct the flow of traffic, and fire engines can't get through.

Although admittedly I would drive round for ages trying to find somewhere where I didn't have to play chicken with pedestrians to park the car.

I have to admit that when my car is parked outside my house it is up on the pavement. There's tons of room for people and pushchairs to pass however. I live close to a junction and have had my car hit so many times and the excess on insurance costs me a fortune. Parking up on the pavement gives the joyriders other motorists that bit more space and means my car gets whacked less!

If the road isn't wide enough for a car to park on it - then the car shouldn't park there! The pavement is not a place to park! I think it is banned in london, isn't it? and in many other places. and there are all sorts of regulations about it - esp if it causes an obstruction.

I also hate propel saying, "oh I have left enough room for people to get by" do they measure to make sure a wheelchair can get by, the worse bit is always the wing mirrors.

Exactly. Enough room for 1 adult squeezing sideways isn't enough room for a wheelchair or (double) buggy

The road where we live is very narrow and as the houses were built in the 1930s, we don't all have big enough drives and garages either. So, we all have to park on the pavement or emergency vehicles would not be able to get through. As the whole area is like this for a long way around, I don't think we have any choice.

I have been told to report it here But my neighbours cellar has started to collapse where the cellar protrudes under the pavement.

There is often cars and vans parked on the pavement opposite the co-op in the village. The pavement is narrow and has a stone wall at the side. There is room for them to park fully on the road on the other side of the road, but this might mean parking 100m away! I often have to fold wing mirrors in to get my single narrow pushchair past.
I did enjoy it one day as I was struggling past a van , dd1 asked why is it on the pavement. I answered loudly that some people think it is a carpark not a pavement, just as the driver returned. He did look suitably sorry

Hecate - yes, In London parkng with even one wheel on the pavement will incur a parking fine of £60. Except in the v small number of areas where a part of the pavement is specifially designated.

Apparently leaving the car on the road may slow down and inconvenience other car users and we wouldn't want that to happen .

Well on our road we have cars and vans parked on the pavement so that pushchairs can't get by unless you make a point and have a wheel in people's front gardens and because they do this on both sides of the road it's hard enough getting a normal car between them. An emergency vehicle stands no chance.

On our old road our 90year old neighbour had to walk down the middle of the road because the cars parked on the pavement didn't leave enough space for his zimmer frame thing to get through.

Some pavements have marked parking bays on them. I drive down a road (in London) where the cars are supposed to park half on, half off on both sides of the road.

I'll just settle for them not driving onto the pavement to park while I'm walking along it! This winter, in the snow, I thought my last moment had come when I saw a Range Rover skidding along the pavement towards me.
