Sorry for typo: No reason Blush

You should always 'flip' old threads for this reason IMO.

MaundyBra · 16/04/2011 16:40

Oh what's flipping?

DramaInPyjamas · 16/04/2011 16:42

yanbu.
i have spent ages doing that before

MaundyBra · 16/04/2011 16:43

Hopefully this thread might stop someone else doing it. Smile

where it says 'Flip this thread' at the top.
Ever so handy

MaundyBra · 16/04/2011 16:48

FurCoat - what does it actually do? (Just tried flipping this thread and nothing happened!)

OP posts:
MaundyBra · 16/04/2011 16:49

Oh - it makes it go backwards in time. Worked this time!

ilythia · 16/04/2011 17:00

I have my settings set so that the thread starts with the OP at the top all the time, saves lots of time. (and no fricking pages either)

MaundyBra · 16/04/2011 17:09

thanks. shall get flipping in the future

Now someone's bumped the bloody trolling IT contractors one. Angry. At least I remembered that one and didn't skim read the whole bloody thing.

GloriaSmut · 16/04/2011 18:49

I'm not suggesting that this is the right option for MN but I'm a moderator on a forum where bumping threads is a hanging offence. Precisely because there's nothing more fucking annoying than realising the debate is 5 sodding years out of date.

MaundyBra · 16/04/2011 18:51

Just assembling lynch mob Gloria!

OP posts:
TrillianAstra · 16/04/2011 18:55

I don't want to make threads go backwards in time - I just want to remember to check if they started in 2008!

backwardpossom · 16/04/2011 19:03

I dunno, I quite enjoyed reading the soap stealing thread.

LyingWitchInTheWardrobe2726 · 16/04/2011 19:08

It was an interesting thread... I wanted to know if the OP had a reply from the hotel? If she ever went back or wanted to - or was she blacklisted? What replies did the MNers who wrote to the hotel get? So many unanswered questions... Grin

HecateQueenOfTheNight · 16/04/2011 19:10

perhaps mnhq could put something in place that would alert people to old threads. Say, when you press post, something flashes up saying "oi, stupid. This thread is six years old, are you sure you want to proceed?"

or something slightly less confrontational.

Or just bloody lock threads that are over a year old.

I don't actually understand why it bothers you so much - don't you notice the date when you read the OP anyway?

GloriaSmut · 16/04/2011 20:18

Well no seth. Call me an utter fuckwit but I tend to assume that topics on page one of a message board are relatively current and haven't been exhumed from some sort of internet graveyard.

Huffythetantrumslayer · 16/04/2011 20:27

This fucked me off too. Read 18 sodden pages before skipping to the end. Glad I did and didn't read all 34. Can't believe the hoo ha they made of it on there!

MaundyBra · 18/04/2011 16:59

Ha! Someone's done it again with 8 boys and wanting a girl but I wasn't fooled.
