AIBU to be fed up with the royal wedding hype, it's everywhere, the news, shop displays, its way to much and very annoying, not all of us are madly in love with the royals or Kate Middletun, moan over.

Diddi

That is very fair comment.

doley · 14/04/2011 16:05

Agree GABBY~ I am sure a referendum would back up your opinion .

diddi the Royals have always had those "falling out of the night -club "types~look at Princess Margaret but ...
then look at what/who she had to give up in her youth ...it is not always fun being a Royal ~she suffered very badly in that period of her life :(

Lets go back to Diana's funeral ...remember those poor boys ?such bravery from them ...I will forgive them most 'ordinary' antics on that alone .

They don't want to be ordinary imo ,they don't understand it .

I think they are just humans ,groomed for a particular life and by good fortune have a stack of money behind them lol Grin

diddl · 14/04/2011 16:36

But Princess Margaret didn´t have to give up Peter Townsend-she could have had him or been Royal-not both.

I think the problem is that there is no "mystery" any more.

We seem to know everything about them.

There has been too much "airing of dirty linen" in public.

What is there to respect anymore?

Barring the Queen, of courseGrin

SusanneLinder · 14/04/2011 16:38

No I am sick of the Royal Wedding too. I cba with the whole thing. Once I heard that turnupattheopeningofanenvelopeBeckhams were ( allegedly) going, that was enough for me.

Still like watching a Car Crash,no doubt I will get sucked in and watch the drivel on the TV and laugh at the hats.

But we really don't need the tacky souvenier biscuit tins in the Coop.Even Morrisons has started with bunting and stuff.sighs

diddl · 14/04/2011 16:44

Perhaps it´s because I´m so old.

There has been Princess Anne-twice

Prince Charles-twice.

Prince Andrew

Prince Edward

Royal Weddings-ten a pennyGrin

CheekyLittleSox · 14/04/2011 16:46

im fed up too of hearing about it. What pisses me off is when they are talking about Kate Middleton and calling her 'the commoner' WTF shes far from fucking common.

Animation · 14/04/2011 16:50

It's not like it was in Diane's day when it all seemed so important and intriguing. I think it was a good move that Wills married his first love - seems quite a solid match - and maybe lessons leant from Charles' mistakes.

diddl · 14/04/2011 16:58

But KM is a commoner-doen´t mean that she´s common, does it?

I think the Charles & Diana thing was more exciting as they (it seemed), met, fell in love & married.

William & Kate have been together so long that it just seems like a formality now.

Had it not been for C&D, I wonder if William & Kate would have been "allowed" to live together for so long before marrying?

Animation · 14/04/2011 17:14

Diddl - you keep saying it's because you're so old. Sad But I think you're right that this one doesn't seem a very romantic occasion. Camilla and Charles might have even been more romantic!

diddl · 14/04/2011 17:20

"Diddl - you keep saying it's because you're so old"-do I?

Oh dear-i´m not really-but I´m now worried that I´m repeating myselfGrin

Perhaps I should say that I have some old fashioned ideas for my age.

fedupalready · 14/04/2011 18:18

caughtinanet, wonder if anyone has seen other Royals shopping in supermarkets, I just can't imagine seeing Camilla, Prince Andrew, Princess Anne at the till in Tesco's or her majesty the Queen, Sainsbury's perhaps but not Tesco's. I'm not bitter at all, just not a fan, and I definitely don't agree that my DH taxes should be used to support this weddings security when we are in the grips of so many cuts, is that being bitter?

I do think age has a lot to do with it too GabbyLoggon, the sentiments above of the Queen going to the toilet, I used to think exactly the same (and still do because she does!) but I have matured now and think the same as Doley and have a lot of respect for them. Some of the under 25s will probably change their minds as they get older, but may be not, may be times are changing too much now and we can't go back. The amount of divorces in the Royal family show they are only too human like the rest of us. I just do not have the venom to hate them though or think they have ever done me any harm personally and just want to have something to be proud of. Funny how the posters sticking up for them seem to live abroad though!

Merlotmonster · 14/04/2011 19:02

...i seem to have been sucked in (hides the order for the Bunting!!) Smile

diddl · 14/04/2011 19:12
