I do not like gravy and to pour it on perfectly crispy roast potatoes should be against the law.

Anyone else have an aversion to the brown stuff?

YABVVVVU or you are crap at making gravy. Which is it?

YouaretooniceNOT · 13/04/2011 21:16

MikeOxstiff - pmsl!

I like gravy - but not too much - but i do like mint sauce.

goodbyemrschips · 13/04/2011 21:18

DD won't eat it either, or casseroles, or bolognaise or lasagne. She will eat cheese sauce but that is the only sauce that will be touched. We hoped she'd grow out of it but she hasn't and she's 12 now. It stems from a dinner lady putting gravy on cucumuber - we think Hmm

YouaretooniceNOT · 13/04/2011 21:21

MikeOxstiff - is now in a heap, in the corner of the kitchen, with gravy pan shaped dent on his head.

GRAVY ON CHIPS?

[sick] - never understand THAT.

pineappleupsidedownpudding · 13/04/2011 21:24

Gravy is wrong the devils work. Why would you want your roast dinner to taste all the same by smothering it with urrrrgh. And I'm only a recent convert to custard as well.

Bearcat · 13/04/2011 21:28

Love gravy in this house and southern DS2 (19) has taken a leaf out of his West midlands uncles book and now has to have a piece of bread at the end of his roast dinner to mop up his left over gravy and any that is left in the jug!
I'm hoping he hasn't shown himself up doing this in his university halls Sunday roast and its just something he does at home!
So common!

ConstanceFelicity · 13/04/2011 21:31

I have been on mumsnet for a long time and have seen many arguments on AIBU. But never have I seen one as ridiculous as this.

YAB more U than all of the past trolls and oddballs put together. I should report you to MNHQ. :o

YouaretooniceNOT · 13/04/2011 21:32

Bearcat
I'm in the West Midlands and never heard of that...gross..

goodbyemrschips · 13/04/2011 21:32

Totally agree.
But both my brother and DS2 are very endearing so have to forgive them.
He always gets a bit of stick from me, dad and DS1 when he does it, but he just smiles and carries on munching!

YouaretooniceNOT · 13/04/2011 21:44

Gravy is served in fish and chip shops up North - am i right?

NorthernGobshite · 13/04/2011 21:45

Weirdo. Gravy is a human right.

EricNorthmansMistress · 13/04/2011 21:46

Gravy is revolting, gloopy, salty disgustingness. YANBU

MikeOxstiff · 13/04/2011 21:49

YouaretooniceNOT
The more upmarket chippies in the North serve jus

PureBloodMuggle · 13/04/2011 21:51

well i was going to say that YANBU but then I note you want to make it against the law Shock

we'd all stare at our roast dinner moanfully wondering what to do in this house if it were.

I work with one of your sort - I try not to judge him.

PureBloodMuggle · 13/04/2011 21:52

Cheese pastie, chips and gravy from my fav chippy in Cardiff.

Oh how i miss it!!!

SecretNutellaFix · 13/04/2011 21:56

I love gravy poured into Yorkshire Pudding and all over meat and spuds.

ConstanceFelicity · 13/04/2011 21:58

Caroline Street, muggle?

EGGceptionalbeEGGleeyes · 13/04/2011 21:59

Gravy should be put in a gravy boat and then you can put it on the side and dip (me) or slosh it all over.
But you can't not have it at all, surely.

tigerchilli · 13/04/2011 22:02

Oh, I love some roast dinner with my homemade gravy. Grin

PureBloodMuggle · 13/04/2011 22:20

Not Caroline Street ConstanceFelicity it was in Gabalfa.

Was all very tasty and located at the bottom of the road that I lived on. What more could you want? Not found a chippy that offers all the delights he did where I am now Sad.

In fact just said to DH 'you know that chipper..' to which he interject 'in Cardiff?' That's 10 years later - made an impression on us so it did!!!

ChoChoSan · 13/04/2011 22:20

Yes we do have gravy on chips up north, and when we come down south to a chippy it's...(as Peter Kay says)...HAS THA NOWT MOIST???

FellatioNels0n · 13/04/2011 22:49

YABVVU. Gravy (providing it is made properly) is most delicious and I would not be able to eat a roast or any meat and two veg type dinner without it. You are weird and no mistake.

BagofHolly · 13/04/2011 23:38

Gravy + AnyCarbs = haute cuisine.

You can't get gravy in the chippies round here, and if you ask, it's like you've asked for crystal meth.
