I do not like gravy and to pour it on perfectly crispy roast potatoes should be against the law.

Anyone else have an aversion to the brown stuff?

You're mental. It's best with mash or chips :o

NosyRosie · 13/04/2011 20:19

Good grief, what's wrong with you woman??? Shock

The gravy is to a roast what a Biscuit is to Brew

goodbyemrschips · 13/04/2011 20:19

It makes everything soggy, I shudder just to think about it.

woah - you never mentioned this on the other thread, talk about drip feeding! Grin

i like lots of gravy. DP has far too much

i'm from ooop north though. gravy with a roast is the LAW

JsOtherHalf · 13/04/2011 20:19

I don't have gravy either. It's source of amusement with work colleagues, as they have ordered my lunch in advance for a birthday/leaving do pub lunch, and ensure whatever is ordered has no gravy.

I am fine with sauce though - things like peppercorn. I think my mothers/school gravy has turned me off it for life.

storminabuttercup · 13/04/2011 20:20

oooh and yy to with chips with mayo too

mitochondria · 13/04/2011 20:20

I like gravy. I always have to make extra if FIL is here. He seems to like to take three-quarters of all the available gravy, no matter how much there is. I am trying to defeat him by making buckets. His plate is often awash.

messagetoyourudy · 13/04/2011 20:21

goodbyemrschips whats with all the threads about roast spuds and then about gravy ???

Hmm .... I might start a post about chips and then salt and vingar ???

nolita · 13/04/2011 20:22

I hate gravy. It just doesn't make sense to me, it makes everything soggy. I also object to custard and cream on the same principle. My sister, however, will happily drink all of those.

goodbyemrschips · 13/04/2011 20:23

Research to find out if I am weird or not!

And trying to stay of the serious threads where I normally get into trouble.

YANBU - esp that horrible Bisto stuff. Salty meaty sludge- yuck!!!
At least make decent homemade stuff if you HAVE to put it on your food

Oblomov · 13/04/2011 20:54

Love gravy. Roasties and yorkshires have to have it.

CurrySpice · 13/04/2011 20:56

YABU. You can't have tried the right gravy.

My dh makes lovely gravy, proper home made stuff. I think the problem you have is not with the gravy but perhaps with your roast potatoes. A decent roast potato should not be turned into a soggy gloop if it comes into contact with gravy, it should be crispy enough to exist side by side.

Madsometimes · 13/04/2011 21:03

I grant you that yorkshires do tend to soak a little gravy, but purely in a meal enhancing way Grin.

AyeRobot · 13/04/2011 21:06

I have roast dinners swimming in gravy. I even have any leftover in a mug when I'm at my parents. A special mug from when I was a child, only ever used by me for that purpose.

hocuspontas · 13/04/2011 21:09

Yuk! That's the only word that describes gravy. It ruins the taste and texture of everything it touches. I feel the same way about pickle, brown sauce and ketchup.

goodbyemrschips · 13/04/2011 21:09

I make homemade gravy [used to be a chef] and it tastes lush.....I just dont like it on a meal like roast.

I enjoy casseroles etc
