I can see at least 25 hours work that equates to £1.80 per hour, it isn't just slave labour its illegal.

Punkatheart · 12/04/2011 08:02

Shocking. I hope that they get no replies - actually they won't. They expect the world and want to pay pennies.

moogster1a · 12/04/2011 08:03

She's not even looking for an au pair. She wants OFSTED reg, food hygiene etc!!

Laquitar · 12/04/2011 08:07

Sadly it is not iilegal because it is live-in.

DaisySteiner · 12/04/2011 08:07

Maybe she missed a digit off the front of the 45?

Laquitar · 12/04/2011 08:10

'evening meal included'

Shock

not even all the meals??

onceamai · 12/04/2011 08:19

Ridiculous - she needs a housekeeper - live in I think they come in at about GBP 500 in London (pw) and all expenses paid.

FWIW my cleaner is living in our house rent free in exchange for her usual cleaning slot of 3 hours, 45 mins a day tidying and laundry and cooking teas for the DC twice a week. I think that's fair and we both are winners. Her services are worth about 100 a week to me and for that she has a room with ensuite in SW London whereas before she was paying 65pw to share a room in a fairly squalid flat.

Jude89 · 12/04/2011 08:20

evening meal is included (but I bet its only if she cooks it!)

sounds a bit like my old job.

she won't get anyone (or at least, anyone good) You pay peanuts you get monkeys (or elephants :o)

HowsTheSerenity · 12/04/2011 08:22

There is no minumum wage for live in household staff as they are considered servants.

Silverstar2 · 12/04/2011 08:23

£45 a week?

Are you serious?!!!! You want an awful lot for not a lot, don't you?

YPBVU. And you can't be that dedicated if that is all you think looking after your children os worth.........

Silverstar - this is NOT the OP's advertisement. She has flagged it up for us to see....

Laquitar · 12/04/2011 08:26

silver thats not the OP's ad

moogster1a · 12/04/2011 08:26

I just messaged her and asked if she left a 1 off the front

OP posts:
KaraStarbuckThrace · 12/04/2011 08:28

Oncemai - your cleaner is doing much less than this advertiser is wanting, and you are paying her more than double!!

I agree with the OP, the advertiser is living in dreamland if she thinks she'll get anyone half decent and to be honest I would be amazed she could get anyone who is OFSTED registered!

I really hope that the £45 IS a typo and that she spots it!!!

KaraStarbuckThrace · 12/04/2011 08:28

Moogstar - lets us know if she replied Grin

WorzselMummage · 12/04/2011 08:29

A 1 ?

More like a 3

frakyouveryverymuch · 12/04/2011 08:34

£45 a week! With that list of requirements?

She's nuts. Absolutely nuts. It's an occasional 7 day week as well and potentially full-time in the school holidays.

Someone with that profile will be getting 10 times that.

It's potentially illegal if not all meals are included as the live in exemption is predicated on 'living as part of the family', which is flexibly interpreted but would definitely include full room and board.

ObscureReference · 12/04/2011 08:43
Shock

Speechless!

eggcupofcoffee · 12/04/2011 08:59

Maybe is £45 per day??? Surely a typo somewhere. Shock

gorionine · 12/04/2011 09:02

It has to be a typo and £450! I earn just under £45 a week but only work 6 1/2 hours for it! There is no way anyone would get away with that list of requirement for £45.

WassaAxolotl · 12/04/2011 09:40

It's a typo for sure. Someone's put a fair bit of effort trying to work out what they want, and anyone prepared to think about it long enough to write that list (down to specifying what kind of meals they preferred), wouldn't expect to get it all for £45 per week!

She even wants an enhanced CRB check- how much does having one of those cost?

Now, if the notice had simply said (in a ragged scrawl, naturally), "wanted live-in nanny and cleaner £45 a week", I'd be suspicious.

Silverstar2 · 12/04/2011 09:43

oh I see, sorry.
