Mind you, that list is not that far off the list I was given when I was an Au-Pair in 1993 ( I still have that somewhere)

Except for the weekly spring clean of a 4/5 house and the Ofsted/Food Hygiene/CRB certificates it's pretty much all there.

All performed for £35.00 per week.

Got the sack for being 'too german' oh, the shame of it :)

18 years ago I did a live in job as a Groom - so no qualifications and all food/board inc. Even I got £70 a week cash back then. Though I did work 6 days a week and about 10 hours a day.

And to think I actually beat myself up for not being good enough. If only I'd paid more attention in english class before I left germany I might have been able to say 'you're taking the Biscuit I'm off :)

"got the sack for being too German..." Grin

Silly people.

"got the sack for being too German..."

Shock Bibi sounds like you had a lucky escape they sounded completely loopy!

Moogstar - have you had a reply yet??

Pinkjenny · 12/04/2011 16:37

I have to get myself one of these people!!!! Now, I live in the North, so I'm thinking it would only be about £25 a week.

sausagesandmarmelade · 12/04/2011 17:23

Ok...so you are offering free accomodation and an evening meal, but there doesn't seem to be much in the way of free time for this person.

You are not only expecting childcare, but a cook and housekeeper too...for £45 on top of accomodation.

I think that's a bit cheeky...they deserve more time off and the wages upped to around £100 I would say.

sausagesandmarmelade · 12/04/2011 17:24

Sorry OP....thought it was you..didn't read clearly enough.

splashymcsplash · 12/04/2011 17:53

Any news moogster?

It's not really 45 a week is It?!

KaraStarbuckThrace · 12/04/2011 18:36

Someone was asking about cost of CRB, I had a basic disclosure done for £20 (for the line of work I am in as I have access to the client's customers' account details).
I imagine an enhanced disclosure would be a lot more!

ladysybil · 12/04/2011 18:40

got to be a typo. I thought people who wanted slave labour like that usually advertised in some poor, famine struck village in a developed country. not the uk

JenaiMarrHePlaysGuitar · 12/04/2011 18:43

I got paid that in 1990 as an au pair!

Journey · 12/04/2011 19:05

Definately slave labour and the hours are so open with the word "possible" used after them that you just know that you'll be doing far more.

Like sausageandmarmalade says its not just childcare you want is it but a cook and housekeeper.

You know it is slave labour and yet you're just hoping to get someone who is desperate for work and will take the pittance pay. You should be ashamed of yourself.

moogster1a · 12/04/2011 19:05

no reply yet but she also hasn't changed any details so I don't think it's a typo. I know it's grim up North but I didn't realise it was this bad

Journey - you are the third person to NOT read the thread properly.

The second post states quite clearly that the OP did not write this ad, she saw it and was Shock by it!

gapbear · 12/04/2011 22:01

I had to pay my supply agency £37 for an enhanced disclosure, before I could go out and earn them money, the bastards.

£45 a week is nuts.

BibiBlocksberg · 12/04/2011 23:09

:) well, when I say too german I mean the parents didn't like me trying to be very disciplined with their 3 and 5 year old. At 18 years old i had some pretty idealistic notions of child rearing I can tell you Grin

Still, i thought the family got a bargain for full-time housekeeping and child care plus two nights a week babysitting for their £35.

Oh just remembered - guess how much my (compulsory) language lessons were? That's right, £35 a week :) soon jacked them in!!

I'll shut up now in case I end up giving someone like mrs 'be my slave' ideas Grin

YouaretooniceNOT · 12/04/2011 23:38

High maintenance by any chance are you? Unprofessional of you also.

NonnoMum · 12/04/2011 23:44

Can tell they are a fun-loving family who like havinga laugh because this certainly is...

CharlieCoCo · 13/04/2011 00:54

im a nanny and to get a CRB (enhanced) its £52

amberleaf · 13/04/2011 01:15

Can you post a link to the ad OP?

frakyouveryverymuch · 13/04/2011 06:41

Enhanced CRB comes as part of the (£103) OFSTED registration though, as does some level of childcare training.

KaraStarbuckThrace · 13/04/2011 07:55

YouaretooniceNOT - who was that post for, the OP?Because if it is congratulations you are number 4!

Please can any more new contributers to this thread please read the first 2 post before wading it with your size 11 and slating Moogstar???
