My mum just texted me to say that tomorrow there is a documentary on BBC3 at 9pm called, "Is Breast Best?".

I predict a bunfight! Grin

Anyone else feel this is nothing to promote bfing? All the bfeeders are being made out to be weird

DuelingFanjo · 12/04/2011 21:21

This bit is ok.

PDog · 12/04/2011 21:21
  • doing nothing
PDog · 12/04/2011 21:22

She is exact impartial though is she?

megapixels · 12/04/2011 21:22

She's using the word "boobs" for breasts when talking to the consultant and asking his professional opinions on bfing Hmm.

southeastastra · 12/04/2011 21:22

it's on bbcthree of course it will be made to get everyone going. bbcfour have a programme about cassini on instead, much more educational

rokersmum · 12/04/2011 21:22

I had a fabulous cover which had a boned structure (much better than trying to use a muslin to cover up) which helped in public but it was expensive - maybe teenagers could be given better covers for free?

fifitot · 12/04/2011 21:22

Made out to be weird? Typical. Could they not just interview normal women breastfeeding without a big fuss.

PDog · 12/04/2011 21:22

Arrgh - typing too fast not impartial

Mumcentreplus · 12/04/2011 21:23

I'm sorry but that woman Cherry is annoying the arse off me!

Animation · 12/04/2011 21:23

PunkPixie - if you're on to your 4th you must be pretty much an expert yourself! I didn't notice any nipple confusion - they all seemed to like both breast and formula.

fifitot · 12/04/2011 21:23

I hate the word boob actually. It's so twee. Would rather say tits, bosoms, breasts even than boob! Norks is even better and a word I only heard of on here!

PDog · 12/04/2011 21:25

I don't agree that ff have less of a bond

ohanotherone · 12/04/2011 21:25

Cherry seems to be asking questions she doesn't want to hear the answer to.........

Mumcentreplus · 12/04/2011 21:26

I don't either..btw I like the word boob..lol

gaelicsheep · 12/04/2011 21:26

Dreadful dreadful story about that poor woman who lost her little boy. But am I too cynical to read into this a subliminal message that "look, that little boy was breastfed and he still died"? Sad

Alambil · 12/04/2011 21:27

far too cynical!

rokersmum · 12/04/2011 21:27

I bf both my boys for about 5/6 months and my DS1 is a mummys boy and DS2 a daddys boy - it does not effect bonding!

OK finally she gets it right - it effects how we feel but not how the babies feel.

ifancyashandy · 12/04/2011 21:28

Yes, I think you're being cynical Gaelic. I think this programme is pretty pro-BF.

Not a parent so have no axe to grind either way!

pommedechocolat · 12/04/2011 21:28

Umm probably yes gaelicsheep. Think she may have been picked for the sob story but don't think there's a subliminal.
I think Cherry expresses her feelings on failing to bf very well actually. Very honestly.

CaptainNemo · 12/04/2011 21:28

Nor me Pdog. Mix fed DD, felt no differently towards her during either feeds.

pommedechocolat · 12/04/2011 21:30

When I gave dd a bottle at about 3 weeks the feeling of bonding washed over in a way that it never had with the boob feeding.
Horses for courses.
Sometimes the fact that I get caught up in all of this makes me sooo mad at myself.
Each baby and each mother is different. End fucking of. Argh.

gaelicsheep · 12/04/2011 21:30

Well I hope you're right. Even if not intentional I think it was a poor decision. I agree the programme does seem to mean well.

ohanotherone · 12/04/2011 21:31

Oh, I watched that other programme and wondered about what would happen...

Alambil · 12/04/2011 21:31

wow Tijen! I honestly thought she wasn't going to bf from the last show Cherry did!
