My mum just texted me to say that tomorrow there is a documentary on BBC3 at 9pm called, "Is Breast Best?".

I predict a bunfight! Grin

moral of this story, formula is a safe choice , as is breastfeeding.

we all need to feed our kids.

breastfeeding or forumla does not = bonding or love for your child alone. nor does it stop any PND.

there are pros and cons to each, but equally end result is in a healthy child that grows and is likely in our society to live a long life.

i breast fed my kids, for years.
only did it with first to save money, and once i got over the cracked nipples etc in first two weeks, i carried on.

2nd baby was huge and therefore found it easy to wolf down milk from boob, and too busy to clean the bottles etc.

3rd baby breastfed was feeding well, but not gaining weight rather well, in end had health problems.

4th baby fed ok.

all fed in to 2nd year or behond.

they arent very brainy, have same illnesses as everyone else, etc, are tall adults, but thats genes not boob milk. (it aint magic stuff, its just booby milk)
bottom line, i found it easy, and did it for years as a lazy way to parent, it worked for me, and i saved money. if it didnt work, i would have used formula, glad i didnt, but its there for those that need it.

i do wish i had heard of milk banks though, as was rather over producing , lets just say weaning was easy with a lot of frozen milk!

with first baby put aside the money i would have spent on formula , bottles etc, and went on holiday with it....

as for birth method, 1st one was born with the use of gigantic salad tongs, and a docs foot pushing at end of the bed... and the baby was bruised , mishapen and quite ugly. so, breastfeeding was often done while he was wearing a hat. he is a quite good looking adult now.
