Please settle this issue once and for all.

I thank you.

saltyseadog DH is from the NW, and also calls trousers pants. We have had many a discussion about this.

Judgy pants are worn high up, Simon Cowell style, underneath the trousers.

thumbwitch · 11/04/2011 15:13

GwendolineMary - are you Superwoman? Wink

Tokyotwist · 11/04/2011 16:37

Oh Great, Thank you all for ruining my affectionate term for undergarments. Now I won't be able to say Panties without thinking of dirty old men Grin.

Oh well guess I still have Knickers.

MarioandLuigi · 11/04/2011 16:41

I imagine Judgypants to be big white Y-fronts.

TandB · 11/04/2011 16:43

I always imagine them as those polyester straight-legged trousers with the high, elastic waist that some elderly ladies insist on wearing.

Goodynuff · 11/04/2011 18:02

ok, so I have to admit, until this thread, I thought judgey pants wear worn on the outside. I was picturing too-tight riding breeches 6&TID=nextagCLS&EID=X1845001&catalog_code=1X845&zmam=1460880&zmas=1&zmac=36&zmap=Z1-3556
worn with a polo shirt..... or maybe with a houndstooth hunting jacket, a hair net, and sherry breath Grin

Dunoon · 11/04/2011 18:18

My judgey pants are massive beige knickers with Judgey written on them at the front, in red.
I feel MN should have an online shop with these and bags with the MN logo on and perhaps a T-shirt which says 'I have my Judgey Pants on' Oh and those in toddler sizes of course Wink

fluffles · 11/04/2011 18:58

omg judgy pants are DEFINITELY worn underneath...

ashamedandconfused · 11/04/2011 19:16

judgy pants goes hand in hand with "dont get your knickers in a twist about XYZ" that proves it, judgy pants are big knickers like bridget jones only bigger! def not trousers

ashamedandconfused · 11/04/2011 19:17

oh and you hoist them right up under your boobs and fold your arms like les dawson

Psalmead · 11/04/2011 19:21

Well this thread has got me worrying about smarty pants now Confused

JenniL1977 · 11/04/2011 19:28

Pants are trousers, in the North. They are also underpants.
Judgeypants must be trousers. They just must be... Although I don't know why...

zeno · 11/04/2011 19:33

Mine are like my smarty-pants except that the fit is slightly smugger.

Mumcentreplus · 11/04/2011 19:37

the spelling is 'Smartie' Pants Grin..and yes.. they are made of glued together round coloured shell coated mini chocolates...never good to wear in summer...

FunnyBumbleBee · 11/04/2011 19:42

Mine are flesh coloured and massive like Bridget Jones' but baggier. In this house they're called knickers though. Only boys wear pants. Under their trousers. My NZ MIL refers to Jocks. Also she insists there's a difference between a jersey and a pullover but I don't know what it is!

QueeferSutherland · 11/04/2011 22:28

Smartie pants are the navy gym-knicker sort. Fact.

As an aside, haven't seen that gavel for a while.

fastedwina · 11/04/2011 22:45

Many folk say pants for trousers - not just the US. Even my Irish friend uses pants, Israeli, Filipino, Aussies. On second thoughts - maybe we are the only ones using 'trousers'.

Bubbaluv · 12/04/2011 04:40

We say trousers in Aus, but it refers to a more tailored style of "Pant". The bottom half of a suit, for eg, are trousers.

saltyseadog · 12/04/2011 07:09

Flisspaps fortunately DH, unlike MIL, has mastered that trousers are trousers ( thank the lord). Interesting that they are all from Lancashire!
