AIBU A woman on the street shut my car door !!

I live in a town centre. i parked my car outside my house and got out and left the boot and kerbside door open to load up some things from the house.
I went into my house to grab some bags to put in the car and heard my car door slam shut. I went out to see two cyclists go past, one of whom had shut my car door. Quite frankly I thought it was non of their business to shut my car door. Dam cheek, I thought. If that were me i would have just manouvered my bike carefully past the car and its open door.
There was plenty of room to walk past with a bike. . . .Seriously !
I looked at the woman and muttered "What ??" or something to which she answered, "I didnt want my bike to get scratched"
Blooming cheek! ..ggrrhh.

YABU - regardless of whether the cyclists should have been on pavement or not your were blocking the pavement = perhaps they knew a double buggy was coming along behind them ? - would you complain then ?

I don't think you are being unreasonable at all to be shocked and annoyed that someone shut your open car door, it's disgraceful what goes on in this day and age, why I remember the days when if you left your car door open people would nick your stereo/car/anything else visible, it disgusts me that now days people just close door of a unattended car without even taking the air freshener.

From the OP it sounds as if the cyclists were walking their bikes along the footpath.

Maybe they thought they were doing you a favour, closing an unlocked unattended car's door.

In any case they didn't actually do you any harm, so your extended righteous indignation is unreasonable and a bit ridiculous.

Like many others, I have closed car doors that have blocked part of the footpath.

It was in the way so they moved it, as doors are designed to be opened and closed it wasn't damaged.

YABVU and a dick for leaving it open in the first place.
