POLITICIANs Runners and riders in the Not So Grand National

George Osborne. Known in the stables as Moneybags. Has the Opposition on his back...Since the Budget some think George is a PetrolHead. Out of Eton by Cameron, should stay yhe distance

"Dave" Camerooney. Another from the Eton Stable. Talks a good race;

Daves HEALTH is being questioned. But he SWEARS he will get it right. He
is being transported to aintree by bus; with a phorographer present.

Nick CLUGG started to whine during last years race. Why is the jockey whipping me? Why are people shouting at me? (Might not last the distance.)

ED MILIBOND....A slow starter. Tends to look disinterested. Chews on the bit. Comes from a family of loving horse politicians. His jockey DAVID says..
There is a secret plan .."we start last and come in first." Worth an each way bet.

ERIC PICKLES Carrying top weight but he could suprise people by finishing the race. Runs in a nosebag.

GABBY LOGAN: Brings real class to the field. Has a sporting chance. Her beauty will distract other runners and riders. Comes from a sporting stable.

THEY'RE OFF

THERE IS A LATE ENTRY for the Politicians NOT so Grand National.

GabbyLoggon:....From the famous MUMSNET stable. Lost his head in last years race. Tried to mount other horses. (TV cameras avoided the spectacle) Was blowing hard over bechers brook. (still had his rug on.) Seemed to be extracting the waters. One for the glue factory.

They,re off.

who won your race,Gabby?

GabbyLoggon · 11/04/2011 16:14

Camerooney was distracted by cameras and fell back...Pickles fell over and rocked himself to sleep....Ed Milibond last interest...Osborne stopped to count his money. GabbyLoggon said Im off home. Leaving Gabby Logan winning hitching up her skirts.

PS Nick Clugg was a late withdrawal

Gabby, this is the funniest, most coherent opening post you've written (that I've seen) since you joined mumsnet.

GetOrfMoiLand · 11/04/2011 16:16

PISSING SELF at soft speaking woman in white coat saying 'who won your race Gabby'

Grin
nijinsky · 11/04/2011 16:18

I just ^know^ Nick Clugg will be nappy and David Cameroony will try to bite and kick the other horses...

GabbyLoggon · 11/04/2011 16:26

Getorfmoil.....Perhaps you only take in humour. (try James Joyce)

Nijinsky Its sure to happen

SERIOUSLY...in the real Grand national, there was more whipping on the run in than I have seen before. With the winner almost collapsing and being water bucketed.

Gabby it was a very hot day and the horses that were dismounted and doused in water were fine within 20 minutes

GabbyLoggon · 11/04/2011 16:33

I seem to have got confused between two responders. Sorry about that.

Cavemum,,,Ok, but the race would have killed most humans.

Humans run steeplechases that last longer than the Grand National. Its an Olympic sport.

I throw buckets of water over my horse after he gets sweaty on hot days. Its normal.

GetOrfMoiLand · 11/04/2011 16:35

Gabby you have got to be one of my favourite MNers, especially for the comment about the Grand National being not fit for humans.

GabbyLoggon · 11/04/2011 16:40

We humans tend to exploit animals for ourown purposes. (But we are kind to some pets)

Nijinski...Its an oft argued point as to whether th Grand Nation is, as you say,HUMAN

I come from a farming background but I do not sentimentalise our treatment of animals.

I suppose human beings have a nice side and a rotten side (sometimes you cannot get agreement over which is which)

But never Mind , Gabby Logan won my grand national

This has gone from flip and funny to very serious.

I dont mind that myself; because i see life as a sort of tragi-comedy.

Thank God for the comedy.
