That I can't quite put my finger on....

There is definitely something about the pitch of his voice that makes me reach for the remote. It makes the skin on the back of my neck crawl. It's like a boy in a man's body. I feel terrible for saying that because I am sure he is a lovely guy and clearly a very accomplished and intelligent person.

lljkk · 08/04/2011 14:20

Creepy, not sinester.
I love what he says, but I have to filter out how he looks.

lili2010 · 08/04/2011 14:21

He quite possibly knows how to unlock the secrets to the universe. I suppose he could come in handy in the unlikely event of alien invasion or a meteor heading for the earth. We could put together our most fearsome and dangerous team team:

Prof Brian Wizard Cox, Jackie of Masterchef fame, Cher Lloyd and Mary Byrne of x-lister fame, Fiona 'she-devil' Bruce, and Peter (666) Mandelson. We would never be defeated...

Hang on a minute, he's from Oldham. I take it all back. All the best people come from Oldham.

tethersend · 08/04/2011 14:23

I think he may be a machine. Made in Oldham.

GabbyLoggon · 08/04/2011 14:24

I believe BC played in a pop group in his youth.

Iklboo · 08/04/2011 14:26

The 'pop group' he was in was D:REAM.

AccioPinotGrigio · 08/04/2011 14:29

D:REAM who gave us the anthem of New Labour: "Things Can Only Get Better". Now I'm not blaming Brian but it wasn't true was it.

Iklboo · 08/04/2011 14:31

To be fair, labour nicked adopted it. It was released 1993/1994 originally.

ProfBrianCox · 08/04/2011 14:33

Shock How fucking rude!

Bet your no oil painting yourself!

AccioPinotGrigio · 08/04/2011 14:40

Woo-Hoo. Hello Brian. You're quite right, I'm a ming.

AccioPinotGrigio · 08/04/2011 14:41

Ming-ER. I'm from Rochdale though, not sexy Oldham.

lili2010 · 08/04/2011 14:42

Very funny.... Your not the Prof. He wouldn't use emoticons. Too clever.

Wasn't referring to sinister in terms of appearance, anyhow...

Oops mean you're. You're very presence has me dropping typos!

picmaestress · 08/04/2011 15:12

I think he might be The Fifth Element, and he's just pretending to be human. I don't think you'd find him sinister if he wasn't quite so nice to look at.

Honeybee79 · 08/04/2011 15:25

Oh, I think he's lovely. I like the fact he's really smiley and makes difficult concepts easy for cretins like me to understand. Grin

Acekicker · 08/04/2011 15:29

Grin cybbo

My problem (aside from the fact that like Jamie Oliver he's a smug patronising fat-tongued-twunt) is that his style means he ensnares the scientifically challenged into thinking that they're so much more intellectual and better informed than those of us who haven't drunk his spit filled kool-aid. Everyone who is watching his program is now spouting slightly misunderstood twaddle as if they were the ones who had unravelled the secrets of the universe...

Honeybee79 · 08/04/2011 15:32

Acekicker - I agree about Jamie Oliver. Haven't watched any of the Prof's programmes but have read one of his books and thought it was pretty good. It's not his fault if people watch one prog or read one book and think they're an expert any more than it would be an historian's fault if someone read a book on Elizabeth I and thought they were an expert on Tudor England . . .

animula · 08/04/2011 15:35

You're going to say he's actually a giant lizard now, aren't you?

BringBackGoingForGold · 08/04/2011 15:45

Oh, Brian Cox annoys the tits off me! The ingratiating manner, the shiny face and chubby cheeks, the wet fishy lips, the inane grin ...

Sorry. Got carried away. But, if you hadn't guessed already, no I don't think YABU!

BigHairyLeggedSpider · 08/04/2011 16:30

He doesn't stop smiling when he talks. Like a stoner. It's really cloying and annoying. Argh.

Ariesgirl · 08/04/2011 16:36

I said something similar on FB not long ago and got nearly 100 responses. Some of it got terribly heated from his fans.

I think it's safe to say he polarises opinion Grin

FurCoatNoNickname · 08/04/2011 16:43

Phew, I'm glad it's not just me. I think DH is a tiny bit in love with him Blush but I can't bear to watch. Makes my teeth itch - YADNBU

pawsnclaws · 08/04/2011 18:22

BigHairy yes like a stoner! He's like that bloke you always seemed to get trapped in a corner with at a party, trying to get away politely while he leans in close, can of Tetleys in his hand as he takes you through his interpretation of The Hitchhiker's Guide or Red Dwarf or Dungeons and Dragons ..... word for word.

Or was it just me Grin?
