Three times this week DS has come home with dog shit on his shoes. I've had enough of steam-cleaning my floors and I've had enough of having to scrape dog turd off shoes. I am VERY weak-stomached and it makes me heave.

I just happened to be at my dining room window when I saw a lady with a great big bear of a dog, who looked like he was stooping for a crap. He stood up and they started to walk off and lo and behold, big steaming pile of shit on footpath. The red mist descended so I opened my front door. "Excuse me, about the dog muck you've just left outside my house. I take it you won't be picking it up?" I call out. "I've forgotten my bag, sorry" she says and starts to walk off. "Wait, I'll get one for you!" I reply and off I go into the house and fetch her a carrier bag from under my sink. TBF she did pick up the shit but she was NOT happy about it. I smiled nicely and thanked her.

WIBU? I'm just SICK of dodging dog shit every day :(

I truly, honestly, would like to see a law passed whereby dog owners who do not clean up after their dogs would have the dog removed from their care and put down, and be banned from keeping dogs in future. I'd give them one chance, on the offchance that they might genuinely find themselves caught out without poo bags, but thereafter, its off to the vets.

I've been a dog owner myself, so I'm not an animal hater by any means, but I do despise people who want all the fun of keeping a dog, but don't want to bother themselves with the unpleasant parts.

Oh Delilah, that's brilliant! I think I would have done the same, but I wouldn't have left such a polite note.

i was nannying once, for a family who lived alongside a lane in the middle of nowhere. I had to pick dog shite off the lawn, and like you, it made me have, even on the end of a spade. One dog had had the really bad shits one day, so i quickly hurled the shit over the hedge, thinking it would fly over the lane into the next field. but it didn't
there was a screech of brakes from behind the hedge - one week worths os steaming dog turd splatted all over the wind screen of the neighbours new green Jag. too too funny.

hedgefundwidow · 07/04/2011 17:14

made me heave rather

marmaladetwatkins · 07/04/2011 17:14

haha at beer tricks - little signs. haha!

expatinscotland · 07/04/2011 17:16

'one week worths os steaming dog turd splatted all over the wind screen of the neighbours new green Jag. too too funny.'

I wouldn't have found that funny. I'd have jumped out of that car, found you, made you clean it up and then done my best to get you sacked.

Sirzy · 07/04/2011 17:16

Yanbu! I wish I had the guts to do the same with the man I saw letting his dog shit in the street earlier.

PelvicFloorsOfSteel · 07/04/2011 17:17

Put down the owners not the dogs! It's not the dog's fault.

YANBU it is vile when people don't do anything about it.

Yeah just re-home the dogs. Don't put the poor dog down. Dogs'll shit anywhere.

It should be that if you see an dog shit dropper, you get carte-blanche to run up and kick them right up the arse. Hard as you can. Free kick, in the butt.

hedgefundwidow · 07/04/2011 17:19

it wasn't funny at the time i have to concede. I was mortified, and scrubbed it all off. Luckily, the neighbour knew it wasn't deliberate and saw the funny side.

Groovee · 07/04/2011 17:21

I chased a woman along the road after her dog crapped on the grass outside our house. She's despised me for it ever since and has given me dirty looks everytime she passes. So I started waving at her when a man was with her and it worked her up even more haha

expatinscotland · 07/04/2011 17:21

Dogs just honk and their shite's vile.

I agree, pet them down.

:o

DontGoCurly · 07/04/2011 17:21

well done op! oh I like your kick-up-the-arse idea! Sounds win-win to me!

WereOffToSeeTheWizard · 07/04/2011 17:22

hedgefund that is quite funny !

KatieMiddleton · 07/04/2011 17:22

Have just snorted loudly twice on the bus at all you poo patrollers. I say good for you. It is disgusting. As for those people who forget to take bags out did they seriously forget their dog shits?!

ApocalypseCheeseToastie · 07/04/2011 17:25

Oh I've always wanted to do that Envy

Fwiw my mums next door neighbour sat in wait until 6 am to catch a phantom dog crapper..... then chased her off down the back street with a sweeping brush. Turned out to be posh woman from down the road Shock Who had been walking up to our end of the street and letting the dog crap outside her gate each morning

Neighbour was Scottish and eyewitnesses said she was chasing woman and screeching 'Get back ere ye dirty, filthy, rotton coo. I'll scalp ye when a get me hands on ye . Eyyeeeeeeee, just yoo wait hen'Grin

I also have a friend who constantly 'forgot' bags, I saw her out once, she'd just left the house with no bags as usual and was heading for playing fields for her dog to crap and spread its diseases as usual when she slipped in a huge puddle of doggy tummy upset spillage (I tried spelling it but gave up)

SnoozleDoozle · 07/04/2011 17:27

well, re-homing would do, but I honestly don't think its a big enough deterrent for a lot of people!!

I get the 'its not the dog's fault', and I understand that its not, but I'm much more concerned about the public health issues surrounding dog dirt, and its general disgustingness, than I am about the dogs concerned.

lazylula · 07/04/2011 17:29

YWNU at all, I would have done the same, infact I nearly did when in town a few weeks back and an owner stood watching the dog poo and made no effort to get a bag out ready to clear it up. I had a nappy sack at the ready if they went to walk off, but turned out they were a very conscientious dog owner and was prepared to clear up after their dog.

expatinscotland · 07/04/2011 17:31

Start filming people who don't clean up after their dogs. Post the clips on Facebook and find out who they are.
