Men,Erections and swimming lessons

RitaBix · 07/04/2011 10:52

I have been going to swimming lessons with ds for 8 weeks. We have one man in the group who stands at the end of the line and I stand next to him (being quite tall I like to stand in the deeper water) We say hello and do small talk
Three weeks ago I notice on getting out he has an erection I get a bit flustered and give him a smile and I am sure he saw me looking at it
Yesterday he had an erection as well
AIBU to be a little spooked out by this?
DH says sometimes they have a mind of their own and being in a pool with 7 women might just bring it to life

"I wonder why he favours swimming lessons in an otherwise all female group?"

Maybe because he wants to learn to swim and it's the only time he can make?

"He is an adult not a teenager and more than able to control it by now."

What utter nonsense.

I am a man. This can happen very easily. Perhaps he can't wait till it's gone down because, if it's the end of the lesson, everyone will then look at him and wonder why he's still in the pool like an imbecile?

There is absolutely no reason to think this is sexual. Could be the movement of the water; could be the temperature of the water; could be unconsciously sexual (association of being almost naked); could be sexual about someone not there (e.g. his wife or girlfriend.)

Looser fitting swimwear is the only good idea so far but this can make learning to swim more difficult as it drags more and gets easily tangled up - and it also means that this is just a lack of style sense rather than some dark perversion.

Give the guy a break. If he was a pervert he would be bringing it to your attention much more blatantly.

NotSuchASmugMarriedNow · 07/04/2011 11:13

sorry Laurie, Grin -love your comment about plenty of experience with erections.

worraliberty · 07/04/2011 11:14

I really don't see the problem here.

The guy had 2 erections (if indeed that's what they were) in 8 weeks...Big Whoop!

To be honest, the creepiest part of the OP was I get a bit flustered and give him a smile and I am sure he saw me looking at it

If that was a man smiling at a woman and getting flustered over her hard nipples, I'm sure some would be calling him a creep or a perv Confused

MIFLAW · 07/04/2011 11:15

Just realised it is parent and child swimming so my point about problems learning with big trunks doesn't stand.

all the others do.

And why should he be obliged to buy a new swimming costume to take his own child swimming just in case someone with an over-active imagination might get offended? Those of you whose nipples get erect - do you swim in a pullover in case a man thinks you fancy them? Or do you just think, "oh well, fact of life, it's a swimming pool, it happens to a lot of people, no one's going to be silly enough to think that?"

RitaBix · 07/04/2011 11:15

MIFLAW
His swimmers are quite loose but when they are wet they tend to stick to the body upon getting out of the pool

Stop looking at his knob. He probably thinks you're a bit odd for getting flustered and smiling about it.

Changing2011 · 07/04/2011 11:16

This is a sad sign of our times and I feel sorry for men in this society I really do. They are being systematically emasculated. Good for this SAHD that he is parenting his kids well and encouraging swimming. Im sure he is a perfectly normal parent and would be mortified to see this.

SpringHeeledJack · 07/04/2011 11:17

Stop looking at his knob

he he he he he he

he's probably on Moneysavingexpert right now complaining about one of the mums from Little Splashers staring at his knob

Grin
TotemPole · 07/04/2011 11:17

Don't look below the belt then you won't know whether his periscope is up or down.

If you do accidentally look, don't smile at him.

Changing2011 · 07/04/2011 11:18

I am a terrible nob-gazer though to be honest... I cant help it!

Yeah, strange as I think he is, I think it's even more strange to look at a strange mans erect knob and then smile at him.

Where are you lot from? The Forest of Dean Grin

GypsyMoth · 07/04/2011 11:21

the comments here are terrible

he might be looking at the children
why is a man in a class with women...(its a parent and child class...clue is the word 'parent')

i worry about how my 3 boys will fare in a society like this when they are older,i really do

nijinsky · 07/04/2011 11:21

"He cannot stay in the pool because whe have 30 min lessons and the next group is ready to get in when we have finished.
He is a SAHD that is why he comes to the lessons"

So then he could get out slightly earlier and more discreetly. Or hold his poolside swimming bag or towel in front of him.

QuintessentialShadows · 07/04/2011 11:21

what were you doing staring at his nether regions, anyway?

worraliberty · 07/04/2011 11:21

I wonder if my Fanjita has ever been the subject of an internet discussion? Grin

This poor guy will have no idea his knob is causing such a wave of interest on MN.....

valiumredhead · 07/04/2011 11:21

Are you SURE he had an errection OP? If he had a full blown one - it would be VERY obvious to everyone not just you. Perhaps he is just a bit 'fuller' than you are used to seeing?

The OP reminds me of when I was 11 and we used to giggle at our Maths teacher 'because he had a hard on' - looking back, it was just a case of over tight trousers and a LOT of imagination Wink

Have you considered the fact that YOU might be exciting him as you obviously keep smiling and staring at him? Grin

Changing2011 · 07/04/2011 11:22

Nijisky - that is just blatent sexual discrimination - women have campaigned for years against that sort of attitude.

RitaBix · 07/04/2011 11:22

Some things are like roadkill and cannot helped looked at

OP posts:
MIFLAW · 07/04/2011 11:22

"So then he could get out slightly earlier and more discreetly. Or hold his poolside swimming bag or towel in front of him."

I would LOVE to see ANYONE do either of those things and still look discreet.

Perhaps he should just get a baggy t-shirt with the slogan "BONER ALERT!" and have done with it.

Changing2011 · 07/04/2011 11:22

Oh so now his poor willy is roadkill - nice Grin

MIFLAW · 07/04/2011 11:23

"His swimmers are quite loose but when they are wet they tend to stick to the body upon getting out of the pool" - we call that "physics".

ShatnersBassoon · 07/04/2011 11:24

Yes, but do you get obviously flustered and smile when you see roadkill?

I might bamboozle DH by using a roadkill metaphor next time I see his erect penis.

GypsyMoth · 07/04/2011 11:25

ritabix.....yes, a quick glance once maybe......but this has been more than that hasnt it! what did you hope to gain from posting this here? what did you want from it? for us all to unanimously scream 'perv' and to launch a MN campaign of some sort???

Salmotrutta · 07/04/2011 11:26

I have nothing useful to add to the discussion - but I did choke on my coffee when I read this .......... I can't imagine why the poor bloke seemed embarrassed Hmm
